A foreign-trained physician turned Uber driver, Manshur Mariwa, found himself in a dangerous situation while trying to help victims of a highway crash in Burnaby, B.C. on November 12. Unfortunately, Mariwa was hit by another car while assisting at the scene, leaving him with severe injuries. His wife, Naeema Aftav, received the devastating news and now faces the uncertainty of Mariwa not being able to work again. This tragic event highlights the risks that good Samaritans like Mariwa face when trying to help others in need, and serves as a reminder of the selfless acts of kindness that can unfortunately sometimes result in harm to those who step in to assist.

An uber driving doctor, and a non injured immigrant claiming she cant work. While canada pays the medical bills? Time to leave canada go home lean on your family and dont lean on my tax dollars.
Stay safe and stay off the roads when it's snowing hard
Someone who was a "doctor" in a foreign country is willing to be an Uber driver? Seriously?
He’s a doctor he can deal with it
A doctor in Canada and they don’t have money?? Yeah right
We desperately need health workers but because of incompetent politicians, we have trained doctors working as Uber drivers
Tragic, even more so how many qualified Doctors we have here in Canada that are driving uber because their foreign credentials are useless here, meanwhile Canada has a health care crisis and not enough doctors…

I once had to deal with WCB & ICBC, due to a mva while working. What a nightmare! Best of luck to this couple! Get your own lawyer; don't trust lawyers from WorksafeBC.
My best wishes with you respectable doctor.
No good deed goes unpunished. That's the price of being a good samaritan. No one recognizes you and you are quickly forgotten.
That's why first responders are paid so well to do these jobs, including having good disability insurance.
🤔🤔🤔🤔
Very sad. Hopefully he heals quickly and the Insurance will help him out as well.
Prayers for this family. These are exactly the type of people we need in this county. Prayers to you and your family.
Ouch! Instinct to save, yes. But on a highway, the minute you step out of your vehicle, you're vulnerable…
😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢 sorry sorry sorry 😢😢😢sorry these tragedy with good people like this please any human beings has good heart and abilities to help these canadian citizens family physician please help them all human beings needs each other time off difficulties unexpectedly situation like this. May god bless them help urgently. 😢commit from Alberta Edmonton. 11/26/2024
Donated! I hope this family gets better soon ❤
Please give this man a full license to practice medicine. Why is he driving an Uber in the first place, when we have severe shortage of GPs and medical professionals
A lot of business/government department keep pushing who's to blame rather than fixing the issues now.
So sad
So we have a good hearted dr working as a uber driver instead of him saving lives… What the hell is wrong in Canada this system failed him.
He probably didn’t put out reflective triangles. Stopping on the side of the road is extremely dangerous even if someone that does this for a living or in the tow truck industry sometimes the police have to be called to try and slow down the traffic.
Doctors working as uber drivers while we have an acute shortage of doctors.
100 precent recovery
He was accepted for his physician degree to come to Canada but he cannot practice in Canada.
Uber? At least place foreign trained doctors in a Nurse Practioner position. The Canadian government is so deeply incompetent.
I'm so sorry that this has happened to you. May you be blessed with a full and speedy recovery and may the social supports quickly work out the funding.
There is no reason why a man like that should be driving an uber for a living when our healthcare system is at the absolute breaking point. How about the college of physicians fast-track this man a license so he can actually practice instead of putting his life at risk.
my goodness I need to talk to my East Indians about driving better, heaven to bestie !
wow, I feel so bad for him. 🙁
Life is just so unfair sometimes.
A true hero. Thank you sir.
tell me a country as a doctor needs a 2nd job to put foods in the table for family.
Ah i thinka we needs to slow thangs down and ah go back to horse and buggy ,ah tthat a will stop clima in its tracks ,realy smell a rose ,just saying 😯
Sorry for that
What kind of doctor becomes an Uber driver? What a clown 🤡 😂🤣.

Poor guy. I hope he heals quickly.
Nothing can happen without Allah's wish. Allah is most powerful. Trust Allah all the time. Do not question Allah's wish. Comply with Allah's wish. Do not blame the other driver as is Allah's wish.
as albertan BC had so many crashes this year
Ontario and BC is a mess! Always something.
Accreditation. Educational Standards ARE NOT EQUAL worldwide. Many countries have lax standards &/or requirements needed to attain a Degree. When it comes to a Doctorate, those Standards need to be A+ if anyone wants to Practice Medicine in Canada.
Donated. Thank you Global news for including link to GoFundMe in your article so people can help.

My prayers with him and his family for his speedy recovery. Bless his heart
