It was a two-night homecoming for Ye (formerly Kanye West). Yeezy set the bar high on Thursday night (Sept. 3) at Soldier Field, then threw his own festival in Chicago on Friday (Sept. 4), bringing out a staggering 15 guests for a setlist spanning 60 songs.
The nearly three-hour set served as a love letter to his hometown, while touching on every era of his career from The College Dropout through 2026’s Bully. Ye has proven to be the ultimate collaborator throughout his career, and he assembled an Avengers lineup for a sold-out 70,000-person crowd at Soldier Field.
At times it felt like a family reunion, with Ye reconnecting with Really Doe and GLC, who were West’s The Go Gettas groupmates in the mid-’90s, as well as Consequence, Lupe Fiasco, CyHi, Common and Twista, the latter of whom can still rap at hyper-speed with ease at 52.
Rick Ross pulled up for his show-stopping verse on “Devil in a New Dress,” which marked the first time they performed the My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy standout in a decade, while Cactus Jack family Travis Scott and Don Toliver brought the energy with their guest appearances.
The main event surprise was a heartfelt Kid Cudi reunion, as he joined Ye on the global stage for “Father Stretch My Hands, Pt. 1,” “Ghost Town,” and even stuck around to perform his “Pursuit of Happiness” anthem. “I told y’all I had some surprises,” Ye quipped.
Over the past two decades, Cudi and Ye’s friendship has experienced the highest of highs and lowest of lows, but the Kids See Ghosts collaborators are back on good terms following an apology from Ye earlier this year. “Tn was just another epic night on a list with many other epic nights w my big bro love u Chicago,” Cudi wrote on X after the show.
West’s antisemitic rants and antics during years past have made traditional touring in the U.S. trickier for Ye, who has been able to book spot stadium dates throughout 2026, which have been selling out to capacity crowds.
Ye has teamed up with touring company IKON Presents to put on the U.S. shows, which will continue on Halloween in Houston and then he’ll head to Dallas and Arizona in November.
