Margaret Qualley has always been a fan of Adam Sandler, and she recently revealed that she actually begged the actor for a role in the upcoming sequel to his hit film, Happy Gilmore. In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight’s Nischelle Turner at the 25th anniversary of the Newport Beach Film Festival, Qualley opened up about her love for Sandler and how she landed a role in the highly anticipated sequel.
Qualley, who is known for her roles in films such as Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and The Leftovers, admitted that she was a huge fan of the original Happy Gilmore and knew she had to be a part of the sequel. “I actually begged Adam for a role in Happy Gilmore 2,” Qualley said with a laugh. “I just loved the first movie so much and I knew I had to be a part of the sequel.”
Sandler, who is set to reprise his role as the lovable and slightly unhinged golfer Happy Gilmore, was apparently impressed by Qualley’s enthusiasm and passion for the project. “Adam was so gracious and welcoming, and he really appreciated how much I loved the first movie,” Qualley shared. “I couldn’t believe it when he offered me a role in the sequel. It was a dream come true.”
While Qualley couldn’t reveal too many details about her character or the plot of the film, she did tease that fans of the original Happy Gilmore won’t be disappointed. “I think fans of the first movie will be really happy with what we have in store for them in the sequel,” Qualley said. “It’s going to be a lot of fun and I can’t wait for everyone to see it.”
