‘Expert Says Few Israelis Are Willing to End War in Gaza’ – FRANCE 24 English

The conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza shows no signs of abating, even with the reported death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar. Despite this setback for the organization, Hamas is still able to launch attacks against Israel, with over 80 people reported missing in Israeli strikes on Saturday night.

In Israel, the war aim of completely destroying Hamas continues to be pursued, even as there are still hundreds of hostages in Gaza. This goal is supported by a significant portion of the population, demonstrating the deep-rooted animosity and desire for retaliation.

Dr Gershon Baskin, Middle East director of the International Communities Organization, sheds light on the ongoing conflict and the complexities involved in resolving the long-standing tensions between Israel and Hamas. Despite the challenges and the toll of casualties on both sides, it appears that very few people in Israel are willing to entertain the idea of ending the war.

The situation remains tense and volatile, with no clear end in sight as both sides remain entrenched in their positions. The cycle of violence and retaliation persists, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of civilians caught in the crossfire. The quest for peace in the region continues to be elusive, with the specter of war looming large over Gaza and Israel.
