20:00 In Greek, "παρακαλώ" (pronounced "parakalo") means "please." It can also mean "I beg, I pray, I ask, I request…" and "you're welcome" when responding to someone who has thanked you.
as a greek, after midday, i say "kalispera" as the rental car guy said. is the most common and greeks use it even after midnight sometimes.
not many greeks say "kalo apogevma" (witch also means good afternoon) when they meet someone but usually when they leave.
same at night, when we leave a place we say "kalo vrady" or "kali nychta" instead of kalispera. (apogevma and espera both means afternoon, nychta and vrady means night).
After 12:00pm its kalispera – καλησπέρα
Good afternoon= kalo apogevma – καλό απόγευμα
Good evening= kalispera
Good night= kali nechta – καληνύχτα
Thassos is one THE best islands for families. Lots of green nature and amazing waters.

I feel getting a motorcycle license next time you're back in the US would be a good idea. I know what you can do in Turkey, figure out how to solve the mic rubbing noise issue finally. Could potentially be an easy way to get more subs.
Exhale as ya comee up ya . Clear water. Nice !!!
Do you have something attatched to your camera that makes it float in case you drop it?
YESSSSSS FINALLY LEAVING GREECE!!! WHOOP WHOOOOOOP!!! 🎉🥳🍾
Back in 2006, I rode the push bike around Thassos island, 100km all the way around.

Thassos ! Holiday destination for romanian people ! Romanian is the second language in Thassos!

If you are definitely going to Turkey from Cavala, suggest you go to Dogubayazit & Van, climb up Mt Ararat to look for Noah's Ark, take your chance😊Don't tell me that you'hv been there before AGAIN.
You can easily crosd the border there entering Armenia, don't do that cos you have to go back to Greece to meet your girl friend.
Best view from Southwest Thassos on Atos mountain ( Chalkidiki)
Greek letters are similar to kiril letters.
If you studied Mathematics and physics, you know Greek letters.
good evening translate to greek is καλό απόγευμα (kalo apogevma)…….but we use generaly καλησπέρα (kalispera) after 12:00
Starting in November, all non EU Citizens that enter the Schengen Counties will be photographed and fingerprinred, so they will know if you overstay the 90 days. I have dual US/EU citizenship, so that doesn't apply to me..Also the ETIAS will go into effect in 2025.
Good to see everything worked out in the end and Thassos turned on some warm sunny weather for you. Very green and different from the other Islands. You got some fantastic swimming on film, just loved the music with the underwater shots, beautiful! Thanks for the tour and language lesson. Happy trails!❤️
Always a pleasure connecting, thanks for the day out & about.
You need a sponsorship from Babbel or RosettaStone.
Food=🏦💸💵💰💳🪙
could be risky waiting for her passport. Could take a long time….. hopefully any old burnt areas of Thassos look better now.
That stuff you ate at the beginning looks like 1000 calories, with the amount of walking you do no problem
Yeah ok that water looks crazy good
Hello greetings amigos good day or goodevening there
Good afternoon too Gab. Nice hair too.
Why not Lebanon
Good Afternoon, Kalo Apogevma the sea is called Thalassa Gabe
Gabriel you were right at 19:30 saying "Kalispera". As soon as the midday is over, you can say "Kalispera" in Greek from i.e. 4 pm. till 10 pm and you will be perfectly right! "Kalo apogevma" is an alternative way of saying "Good afternoon" but Greeks do not use it as often…
P.S. Your Greek is not bad at all! Somebody please give Gabriel a Greek citizenship!
Oh I like Thassos because it's has more trees than the Cyclades (I also love my barren and dry Cyclades). I have been there in 1983 with my family and then there weren't many tourist. I remember well Aliki Beach with the underwater marble quarry. It is a nice island to explore, but it's good you've a taste of it. That Schengen limitations is bollocks and doesn't make any sense. Thank you for sharing the greek words. I like the language as I studied ancient greek and I do understand a bit of modern greek. Happy travels!
Thassos is very popular among Romanians, so I think 75% of the tourists are Romanians. Usually, we usued Keramoti as a place for taking the ferry. The island is very green with peefect water and nice beaches, as Paradise Beach, Aliki, Golden Beach, Pachis.etc. I would recomand you a visit to Theologos village, right from Potos, Panagia is a must,..old Kastro village. Thassos city has a nice archeological museum, and more ruins close to it. .don't miss Marble Beach, and all beaches from the south or the island…and marble quarry from the North near Thassos.. Greetings from Romania!
Love how you teach Greek language😊👍👍👍👍efkaristo poli⚘️⚘️
Ciao dall'Italia,i love Greece and your video Always beatiful ❤
Gabriel I love your videos all over the world , however , whenever you are back in Hellas , in my country, I'm always So excited 🐳🐳🐳🌊🏝🏞 !!! Welcome back 🍉🍇🫒
Espera means evening. But back in greek history when people were up working from the dawn of the day, their after 12 o clock meal was considered already pretty late in the day and more close to the evening,so the time after 12,when most of the work was done was referred as evening (espera) and it stayed that we say good evening already after 12 o clock. You are progressing in Greek!👍☺️ Have a good and safe travel to Constantinople!
Gabe, the sweets (γλυκά – glee-ka') you had in the begining of the video were super-wow!The dark one was a black forest cake and the second one (if it contained coffee) was a kind of tiramisu…
Good video

Hi Gabriel, love your videos! Thank you for travelling with me. I'm a grphicdesigner and made a picture of you based on a video. Is there a posibillity to send it? Greetings, Jörn
Παρακαλώ (Parakalo) very ancient compound word made out of two words… the word παρα ,para which means excessive and καλώ and kalo i call…which In its ancient form meant I beg your attention I call unto you on my behalf “ I come alongside you with a request", hence please.
Ancient Greek ἐν (en, “in”)and τάξει (táxei, “order”), the latter a dative form of τάξις (táxis).arrangement, order' Ενταξει =in order…
Unfortunately, this beautiful island is too touristy, so I would never choose it as a tourist destination, except maybe at the end of September, but it's already the beginning of autumn, so the real problem could be bad weather in the far north of the Aegean.
Gali nikhta Thassos looks nice. I can read Greek but don't understand most of it! Have you ever been to the north of Turkey near the Black Sea? It's an area that isn't that well known yet but very nice and green from what I've heard and seen in photos. It's cooler in temperature too. They grow lots of tea there. Some parts look like they could be the Rocky mountains or Switzerland.
The Greek saying I know is: Ela bappou nasou thixou dambeliasou
From what you've said I'm guessing you took the ferry from Keramoti. Any chance you feed the seagulls during sailing to Thassos?😊
Last month we had a great holiday in Thassos
