Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has rocked the state’s political scene with his explosive allegations against Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis. In a press conference, Deshmukh claimed that Fadnavis had set a “target” of collecting Rs 100 crore a month from bars and restaurants in Mumbai during his tenure as Home Minister.
Deshmukh alleged that Fadnavis had assigned the task to BJP leader and former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh, who allegedly carried out the extortion through police officers. Deshmukh further claimed that Fadnavis was aware of the extortion scheme and had taken Rs 40 crore from Singh for the BJP’s central leadership.
These shocking allegations have sent shockwaves through the Maharashtra political landscape, with both the ruling Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress alliance and the opposition BJP trading barbs over the issue. The allegations have raised questions about the integrity and accountability of the state’s political leadership.
Fadnavis has denied the allegations, calling them baseless and politically motivated. He has demanded a thorough investigation into the matter to uncover the truth behind the allegations.
As the controversy continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how these allegations will impact the political dynamics in Maharashtra and whether they will lead to any concrete action against those involved.
