The recent success of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party in two state elections has put additional pressure on Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s government in Germany. The AfD’s victories in Thuringia marked a significant moment in post-World War II Germany, as they became the first far-right party to win a state election.
Under the leadership of Björn Höcke, one of the party’s most extreme figures, the AfD’s success has left the country’s conservative opposition scrambling to find a way to govern two eastern regions without involving the far-right party. The rise of the AfD has forced political contortions and raised concerns about the direction of Germany’s political landscape.
Chancellor Scholz’s government is now facing increased scrutiny and calls for action in response to the AfD’s growing influence. The success of the far-right party has reignited debates about immigration, nationalism, and the future of Germany’s political establishment.
As the AfD continues to make gains in the political arena, Chancellor Scholz and his government will need to address these challenges head-on to maintain stability and unity in the country. The pressure is on for Germany’s leaders to navigate this new political landscape and find solutions that resonate with the German people.

Ganging up on anti-mass-immigration parties is the last desperate move by the neoliberal elite to stay in power, first in France, now in Germany. Time is against them, and they know it.
Germany for German citizens
"far-right" – Not communist.
Hilarious to see the media pundits recoil in shock that the people have an opinion and have voted.
It's bigger than just Immigration it's also about respect. Post Unification many East Germans have felt disrespected and Ignored. They have been told that their pre 1990 lives and accomplishments didn't matter. Industry has also been hollowed out in the former GDR in favor of privatization. Any kind of questioning of Federal policy has been seen as favoring the Stasi, the SED party and the wall and repression. Unification was not amongst equals but a takeover as seen in the East by many.
Keep Playing minority politics majority will eventually choose a right wing party just like happening in india
How can some people still support the CDU is beyond my comprehention.
