A car has plowed into a crowd in the heart of Mannheim, Germany, causing chaos and tragedy. The incident resulted in the deaths of at least two individuals and left as many as two dozen others injured. The driver of the vehicle responsible for the attack has been apprehended by authorities.
The city center has been cleared out and a popular pedestrian zone near the iconic 19th-century water tower has been sealed off. According to reports from Bild, a German security source disclosed that there were two fatalities and approximately 25 individuals sustained injuries in the horrifying event. The driver, said to be a German citizen, was reportedly taken to a medical facility for treatment. At present, there is no known motive behind the attack.
The local police department confirmed the loss of one person and the injuries sustained by others. “At this time, we are unable to provide further details regarding the number and extent of the injuries,” stated the police. They also mentioned that a suspect had been identified and detained following an immediate manhunt.
