Floods cause destruction to homes and roads following breach of Minnesota dam

Heavy rains caused the Rapidan Dam near Mankato, Minnesota to be at risk of “imminent failure,” leading to concerns about flooding in the area. The Blue Earth River swelled with rainwater, putting homes and roads at risk of being devoured by the floods.

Aerial footage captured by Brandon Knudsvig shows the dam as water flows around it and debris becomes jammed at the top. Knudsvig expressed hope that the dam would hold and that everyone would be safe.

Although there was a partial failure on the west abutment of the dam, authorities confirmed that the structure was still intact and no mass evacuation was currently planned. Governor Tim Walz assured that emergency management officials were working quickly to ensure the safety of Minnesotans as the situation continued to develop.

The situation serves as a reminder of the power of nature and the importance of being prepared for natural disasters. Stay tuned for updates on the situation and follow The New York Post for more news on this and other important events.
