A shocking incident in Florida has sparked controversy and concern after a sheriff’s office posted a mugshot and “perp walk” video of an 11-year-old boy on social media. The Volusia County sheriff shared the images of the young boy who allegedly made threats of a mass shooting, leaving many parents outraged and calling for accountability.
The video quickly gained attention online, with many questioning the decision to publicly shame a child in this manner. The incident has reignited debates about how to address issues of juvenile crime and mental health in our communities.
While the details of the case are still unfolding, it is clear that the situation is deeply troubling. The boy’s actions are alarming and must be taken seriously, but the response from law enforcement has raised questions about the appropriate way to handle such situations involving children.
As the story continues to unfold, it is crucial for authorities to prioritize the well-being of the child and ensure that proper steps are taken to address the underlying issues that may have led to such a disturbing threat. The focus must be on prevention, intervention, and rehabilitation rather than public shaming.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the complex challenges facing our communities in addressing issues of youth violence and mental health. It is a call to action for all of us to come together to support and protect our children, and to work towards creating a safer and more compassionate society for everyone.

Is this the kid with a room full of weapons?
This cop is out of control. Hes going to show the face of a minor, that hasn't been convicted of a crime. He should be fired for making threats of retribution. The courts decide punishments.
Trump assassination attempt any update ???????
Future dementedcrat voter.
HE IS 100 ON THIS
I agree with the Sheriff 100%
So…does the boy’s dad have guns in the house?
People calling for an 11 year old child's face to be shown in media, for an 11 year old child to receive jail time, for an 11 year old child's parents to be "held accountable", etc, because an 11 year old child made an extremely bad decision out of whatever motivation and perpetrated a hoax that involved real fear being caused and real crimes to be committed, are reacting out of fear and anger more than clear thought and consideration. It's a heinous act, but it's a heinous act that was committed by an 11 year old child. A child. 11 years old. Eleven. Perhaps such an act, thoroughly thoughtless and lacking consideration and evaluation ( because it's an 11 year old child ) would never have occurred to an impressionable child if the adult population in this country had given more consideration to, and been more active, in demanding rational, effective solutions to the societal ills of having mass school shootings occurring throughout their nation at a rampant rate, unstemmed by what should have long ago been a loud, sustained, society wide demand for action to remedy the mass murder of its children repeatedly saturating all forms of media.
Wow. At 11 yo I was just excited to get home from school to play Minecraft with my friends. Better times fs. Glad I’m out that shlthole
Sorry not sorry but Chitwood is not their parent and no one is giving him authority to substitute himself as such. Not saying the situation, kids and parents do not need to be dealt with but a Bully Sheriff is also nto the answer he thinks he is.He is only part of the legal system he is NOT the law itself.
Maybe Florida needs to take gun control more seriously.
Jelly back cowards are mad at this?
when i saw the title i laughed but no its a good thing
Who are his parents? Put them in Jail too.
Now he's really poed
Muy bien Sheriff, hay que tenerlo guardado, para que aprenda lo divertido, que a de ser estar en la cárcel 👍
Se le olvido meter a los padres también, por irresponsables
A joke is supposed to be funny. There’s nothing funny about what he posted.
Sick Sick young people today. No responsibility or regard for anything any more. NEVER HAPPENED in the 50's-80's. America is a really fu*ked up place today. "youth-in-asia" is a valid consideration for these kind of defective people, regardless of age or gender.
I hope this kid gets a GOOD lesson. What a shame. He probably thought it was cute to send that threat. Children emulate adult behavior and people have forgotten that. These things must be taken seriously because if not, it CAN change to a reality. Parents need to watch their mouths in front of their kids.
Good for the sheriff.
Florida used to be all like "they are just a child don't do that"
Now they like "throw the book at them"
What is going on in this country?
It makes sense that we are angry when we see news stories like this but putting young kids with the more criminally minded older kids only increases the chances of them becoming more dangerous criminals.
The US imprisons more people per capita than any other nation in the world and by far higher amounts. Our jails and prisons are run by a system who treat people like animals and when those prisoners are eventually released they act like animals. The US is doing this the wrong way. Most other developed nations have much lower recidivism rates among their criminals than the US does. America is making more criminals and that's exactly what the for-profit prisons want. I don't think we should coddle (sp?) people who commit crimes but I do think we should rehabilitate criminals instead of just punishing them.
Lastly, that kid is going to be treated like a star by his school mates for all the attention he is getting. I think that the cops should have handled this better! 😕
That sheriff needs a raise bravo mr sheriff man bravo
I told my 2 sons if you do something stupid you will go to Jail and I won’t get you out. It happened to my 1 son he called and said mom I’m in jail and I said no your outside with your friends, he said no mom I got in car to go to the store. He got pulled over for tail light smelled pot and had joint in his pocket. I went to work the next day and let him work it out.
so why is the media blocking the image
We used to have town stocks where miscreants were locked, neck, and hands for display in the town square. Everybody knew what their social crime was, and the individual became target of rather more than harsh words.
Imagine a modern snowflake, stripped of anonimity, publicly shamed.
Gun loving Republican politicians thrive on this stuff. When people get shot up, or you or your kid goes to jail, it's more money these politicians get paid.
shoudnt be blurring the face of people like this
Kudos to the Sheriff and his Department!!! 👍😎
Another news station YT channel showed his face and didn't blur anything😂
Did they strip search him? Make the experience as humiliating as possible.
Accountability must be 'accounted' for always; thank you shariff for doing something about the threats that happen in our schools😎👍
Even children need to be held responsible for something this serious.
NBC is wrong to protect this boy ! Show his face or his parents names !
And where did this kid get the photos of the guns and other weapons? Are they real? And if so then Id say definitely hold these parents accountable!!!!!
If he is mature enough to do these things whether a joke or not then he is old enough to show his face on the news. If the police chief is having officers put him in a perp walk then he is old enough to show his face on the news. Also, show the parents.
He released the photo because he looks Mexican when will this racism stop
Give him 30 years to think about it
You are all very dumb
We’ll see if this does anything to move the needle… an unexpected outcome could be that troubled kids no longer use social media (which then eliminates one potential early warning sign)
your the only terrorist in this world
So despite the fact that the kids face and name is already out there, NBC news is continuing to hide the felon's face……they are enablers!
He is a kid. Help him and check on his home.
