Florida residents are gearing up for Hurricane Milton, a powerful storm that is expected to bring life-threatening storm surge and potentially devastating winds.
Many residents in the affected areas are taking evacuations more seriously than they have in prior storms, recognizing the potential danger that Milton poses. Officials have issued mandatory evacuation orders in several coastal communities, encouraging residents to leave their homes and seek out safer shelter.
NBC News reporter Marissa Parra spoke with several residents who have decided to heed the warnings and evacuate ahead of the storm. One resident, Sarah Rodriguez, shared her concerns about the potential impact of Milton and explained that she didn’t want to take any chances with her family’s safety.
As Hurricane Milton approaches, emergency officials are urging all residents in the path of the storm to take the necessary precautions and heed evacuation orders. The safety and well-being of residents is paramount, and it is crucial that everyone takes the threat of Milton seriously.
With the potential for life-threatening storm surge and devastating winds, it is imperative that residents in the affected areas prioritize their safety and listen to the guidance of emergency officials. As always, it is better to be safe than sorry when it comes to preparing for a hurricane of Milton’s magnitude.

Florida is cooked, there is a “once in a lifetime” storm every week. All insurance companies will leave and Fl will likely be uninhabitable within 20 years.

duh you'd be driving if that were a british car in the uk duh
Having gone through 23 hurricanes so far, it wasn’t really the danger from the storm that motivated me to leave. It was the very real problem of being without power for days and weeks. Trying to sleep in a 95 degree home with 95% humidity is almost impossible. Not to mention, communications are out or limited, there is no gas, the fridge can’t keep food and a host of other issues. It’s people with little means that are almost forced to stay that genuinely suffer.
