During a recent interview with Meet the Press, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) shared his thoughts on the state of the presidential race and made some strong statements about tax policy.
Sanders, a contender for the Democratic nomination in the 2020 presidential election, expressed his belief that eliminating federal income taxes would be “insane economics.” He argued that such a move would only benefit the wealthy and corporations, while leaving the middle class and working families to bear the brunt of the burden.
Throughout the interview, Sanders emphasized his commitment to fighting for economic equality and reforming the tax system to ensure that the wealthiest individuals and corporations pay their fair share. He reiterated his support for policies such as raising the minimum wage, expanding access to healthcare, and making higher education more affordable for all Americans.
Sanders also addressed the current state of the race for the Democratic nomination, acknowledging the crowded field of candidates and the challenges that come with it. Despite facing tough competition from other candidates, Sanders remained optimistic about his chances and vowed to continue his fight for the issues that matter most to him and his supporters.
As the presidential race continues to heat up, Bernie Sanders’ stance on tax policy and his commitment to economic equality are sure to be closely watched and debated by voters and political pundits alike.

Put this nag out to pasture.
God forbid we help the working class…. Less and smaller government… do you need more money or does the government…. Let’s say we get rid of income taxes… that’s more money in your pockets…. You spend more and the government can collect more sales tax
How high is the income tax in the US and is it staggered?
many economists, including this one, believe that a sales tax would be a better way to raise revenue, provided it's administered properly (excluding food and other necessities). an import tariff is a form of sales tax. it could be worth a try,but i don't trust the politicians to eliminate the income tax and keep it eliminated.
Replacing income taxes with tariffs would give foreign countries total power over our revenue system. That is Trump's "aspirational goal?" To outsource our federal income? That is the most un-American fiscal proposal I've ever heard.
Bernie Sanders if politicians were more like you America would be great again!👍
WHY THEN, don't you try convincing all your Democratic cohorts to support a bill that would CONSTITUTIONALLY INVOKE and DEMAND a yearly "BALANCED BUDGET". If Americans could get an honest accounting of where and how our money is being spent there may not be so much discord with our government.
