In this episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, Guy Fieri returns to Twisted Soul Cookhouse & Pours in Atlanta, Georgia. This spot has become a favorite for customers seeking globally inspired soul food that never disappoints. Guy’s personal favorites? The Southern Fried Chicken and Sweet Tea Ribs!
If you’re looking to recreate this mouthwatering dish at home, here’s what you’ll need:
Ingredients:
– Chicken pieces (such as drumsticks, thighs, or breast)
– Buttermilk
– Flour
– Salt
– Pepper
– Paprika
– Garlic powder
– Onion powder
– Cayenne pepper (optional)
– Oil for frying
Instructions:
1. Start by marinating the chicken pieces in buttermilk for at least an hour (overnight is even better) to ensure tender, flavorful meat.
2. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper (if using) to create a seasoned coating for the chicken.
3. Dredge each piece of chicken in the seasoned flour mixture, making sure to coat evenly.
4. Heat oil in a large skillet or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C). Carefully add the chicken pieces and fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 15-20 minutes depending on the size of the pieces.
5. Once cooked, remove the chicken from the oil and drain on a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess grease.
6. Serve hot and enjoy with your favorite sides like mac and cheese, collard greens, or cornbread.
Whether you’re a fan of Guy Fieri’s adventures or just looking for a delicious fried chicken recipe, this Dynamite Fried Chicken is sure to become a new favorite in your household. So roll up your sleeves, grab your apron, and get ready to dig into some finger-lickin’ good soul food!
