Hamas reports over 400 killed in Israel’s extensive strikes on Gaza Strip

The conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip has escalated once again, with the Israeli military launching “extensive strikes” in the region. According to the Hamas-run health ministry, more than 400 Palestinians have been killed in the strikes, making it the deadliest wave of attacks since the ceasefire in January.

The Israeli military stated that talks to extend the ceasefire had failed, leading to the decision to launch the strikes. Hamas has condemned the attacks as targeting “defenceless civilians”, and has called for mediators to hold Israel accountable for violating the ceasefire agreement.

In response, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced that Israel will increase its military strength against Hamas, accusing the group of refusing to release Israeli hostages and rejecting proposals to extend the ceasefire. Hamas has blamed the United States for the “massacres” in Gaza, claiming that Israel briefed the US on the strikes prior to carrying them out.

The situation in the region remains tense, with both sides showing no signs of backing down. The international community has called for an end to the violence and a return to dialogue to achieve a lasting peace in the region.
