Hezbollah confirms Israeli strike killed senior commander in Lebanon

Hezbollah has reported that one of its senior commanders, Mohammed Nimah Nasser, was killed in an Israeli air strike in southern Lebanon. In retaliation, the Iran-backed group launched a barrage of rockets towards Israel. This incident is just the latest in almost nine months of escalating violence between the two sides, raising fears of a full-scale war.

According to Hezbollah, Nasser was in charge of the Aziz Unit, responsible for launching rockets from south-western Lebanon. The Israeli military has accused him of orchestrating numerous terror attacks. In response to Nasser’s assassination, Hezbollah fired around 100 rockets and missiles at Israeli military positions.

Although the projectiles caused fires in open areas, no injuries were reported. This latest escalation comes amidst already heightened tensions in the region, with both sides engaging in attacks and counterattacks. The situation remains volatile, with the risk of further violence looming large.
