My dog Bonzo and I are proud to be enrolled in this study.
We are not worthy of everything that dogs give us.
CBS is doing its best to appeal to its audience- dogs and humans with dog-like intelligence
How about focusing on solving the overwhelming problem of the over breeding of dogs for profit, turning them into frankensteins and many of them ending up dumped on the sides of roads or over-capacity shelters? How about teaching people that love is not enough when it comes to dog ownership and the responsible thing to do is to better understand the specific instincts and needs of a dog before taking one home, because most people don't, even though they believe they do or they just don't care to learn.
Was LITERALLY shedding a few tears over my doggie who passed away recently and this pops up in my feed….
RIP MoMo bear, the bestest ball player, 80 pounder who was so gentle and kind to small barking dogs, the softest ears and best listener.
I hope to met you again one day and see you run once again like the pony you were. 💔🐾🌈
Loyal’s approach is concerning because they’ve partnered with organizations like Muttville, which care for older dogs without traditional owners to provide consent for trials. This raises ethical questions given the for-profit nature of the work and the possibility that dogs are being used primarily to generate data for lucrative human longevity research. It doesn’t help that they’re backed by weirdos like Peter Thiel, which adds to concerns about underlying motives. I am all for any treatments that could increase lifespan of dogs, not ok if it is just a guise to make money
Don't test on animals… test on humans. get consent from someone who knows and is willing to risk all the risk for themselves.
Our Jack Russell lived to be 19.5 — we added nutritional yeast to his meals! 🥰
Four legged angels.
they deserve to live forever, they are family, i rather spend time with dogs than people. Dogs were send to us by god to teach us that love and loyalty comes from actions not words. A person will leave you in the rain, but a dog will follow you through the storm.
My 16 yo dachshund had canine cognitive dysfunction. He was treated at Auburn University Bailey Small Animal Hospital. I established an endowment for this very issue they are speaking about. I am so happy what the future holds in this area for both dogs and humans.
rampamycin is what peter attia used to combat aging.
quality of life is key. not just extending the life by maybe a year.
😮
I hope the research helps dogs live longer and better lives.
Way to go Ralph may you rest in peace❤
Cancer, too! Biden gave money to study the same cancer that Dogs and people share.
Drugs are the answer!
Not sure I want to coordinate my chances of longevity on an animal that typically lives about 10 years.
You don’t need much of a study. Just feed them real food and stop taking them to the “vet” and injecting them full of toxic junk.
Dogs are my favorite thing about life. I hope these drugs are successful
100% in support of this
There are two products that can help with doggie dementia. Clarity by MyCoDog and Halscion by Gold Standard Herbs. They have both really helped.
I love that Pat has a Fi collar on Murphy. It’s only 20$ a month but the peace of mind it gives you is literally priceless. I had to turn off notifications from the NextDoor app because all I ever saw was lost pets. It’s so sad that everyone doesn’t have a tracker on their pups 🥺🩵 definitely team Fi for life
Look at the FDA trial that the Loyal company just completed on dog longevity in slowing dog aging by shutting off growth hormones that cause early rapid growth in large breeds and are believed to continue this vis more rapid aging.
Some dogs are not food induced and just nervous
“Studying dogs may reveal path to longer, healthier life for dogs, humans“ is such a wonky title. What.
I'd like to know what the dogs diets were that had dementia.
I adopted a French spaniel from a shelter and she was between a year old to two years old. Had her for 14 more years. She had no issues until she was about 11, but was mostly healthy until her last year. Canine cognitive disorder was the real beginning of the end. So hard to watch but she was the best dog ever. I do think she lived long and healthy because of long walks, no table food, and I encouraged her to interact with any person who wanted to give her attention.
My Jack Russel gets Mediterranean whole foods diet but dog oriented nutrition. The fiber digestion is a little different as their digestive tract is shorter (some grains don't digest). Usually rotate two or three types of meals (all high nutrition). Sometimes a second daily meal. A high liquid soup, usually pan deglazed from my food for flavor (clean the pan), then add chicken flavored bone broth aminos and maybe a piece of shrimp with chopped veggies. With exercise, he walks 3-4 miles a day and loves playing frisbee (very athletic/high energy). On rainy days, he does 30 minutes on his tread mill. Most people think my dog is a young puppy when he is going on 6 YO. However, always my puppy.
I can't believe it took so long for TDAP to be featured on a prominent national program! This is such great and sorely needed research!
Please tell me they are not killing the dogs or doing anything weird with them
Some of the best people that I know are my dogs.
My dog Rani is enrolled in this study.
How about the diet, kibble is a poison .
As long as the research doesn’t mean breeding dogs for or taking them from shelters to do cruel testing on them! That needs to stop!
My Shalom #shalomthecockapoo 😇 had #ccd. He lived to almost 16 years old (13 with me). He was a rescue. I miss and love my angel every day. This disease is so sad. I hate that my beautiful, smart, loving boy got this. Thank you for what you are doing for dogs and humans.
My dog is enrolled in DAP but now it looks like that will be used to justify using dogs in medical research and experiments that will benefit humans. I'm totally against that. Not sure what to do. I enrolled in DAP because it was supposed to benefit dogs, but now it looks like the main reason for DAP is to benefit humans. That is effed up.
I am a service connected DAV/POW. I suffer from TBI/Seizures from being beaten by my captures. The VA teamed me with a Rottweiler service dog Damian. We thrived. Unfortunately he passed away the day before his 9th birthday. I became suicidal almost immediately. The VA doctor saw this. Had Dunkin a service dog sent to me. 4 days after losing Damian Dunkin was in my arms. Why am i able to put everything aside? As long as i have a dog?
If you would like to read more about this look into “the human animal bond” as well as “One Health, One Medicine.”
Interesting study.
Really dumb questions.
Please ramp up the actual science rather than 'feelings'.
RIP doggies. Thank you for your service
Dogs are like humans and need healthy unprocessed food, clean water, exercise and love.
Too many dogs are getting cancer.
So we DO have mushrooms as brains….
Proud to be a CSU Ram!
Who would have thought, studying things helps us understand things! 😂
My Happy had trouble finding his treats. He lived to almost 17. ❤❤❤
