I ask prices before I pay..this is not going to happen to me. I don't need to pay nothing extra and receipt PLEASE!
its so frustrating when you feel like you are being taken advantage of at a restaurant. it realy ruins the whole experience.
“Do I look too local?” I love it
Lmao James certainly looked the part! I'm going to have to pass this video along to Chris's NYC hot dogs channel. He goes around testing random hot dog carts. But I wonder if the crazy charging also has to do with credit cards.
But the beer thing was actually on an episode of Chicago fire!
had to skip your upload, bud.
Because of your 👉high freq bell sounds👈.
Tipping is one of the most disgusting culture in the world😢
I live in the Midwest and ppl do auto gratuity here too. I always have to ask "Is gratuity included?" Some people disguise it as a "service fee". Also, according to some credit card processors, merchants are not supposed to charge more for a customer using a credit card or debit card.
Is there a chance that the vendors sees you with camera and then they think "Oh sh*t, this guys bouta bust me, Imma charge him normal prices then"
I liked this video because it helps people who are visiting the city learn what to watch out for. I'd like a video of you trying foods places that are very well known and are on the most visit but are they really that good?
It happened to me once when I lived in NYC. I was heading home from work and stopped at a hot dog Vendor at 5th ave and e48th street to buy a bottle of Coke he tried to Charge me $6 he thought I was a tourist but when I said I was a local heading home from work he became Nervous and changed the price to $2. I told him not to assume that everyone is a tourist and Charging Extra was unacceptable..
Looking for an Ice Cream truck in winter with snow on the ground????? No wonder you didn't find it.
NYC has gotten ridiculously expensive re the hotels. It doesn't surprise me with the applied gratuity. You have to remember that a lot of tourists don't tip and are self-righteous about it but the shadiness hurts locals. The easiest thing is to do what is done in Japan, which is paying your service people a livable wage, but Americans don't do that across the board. So you can complain all you want, it's the system that's already corrupt.
I've been watching your channel for a few years now and as a native New Yorker, I can say that you're doing many of your viewers, potential tourists to this city, a major disservice by not disclosing the name of that Italian restaurant. I've eaten in at many restaurants in New York and other states and have never seen anything as slimy as that restaurant. Most places that automatically add gratuity and ask for a second tip usually let you know in some way that this is an additional tip. And on top of that lack of disclosure, they even add an "operating fee". I get you don't want to be the reason they get review bombed but at the same time, I'm disappointed that you're gonna let them get away with it.
Speaking of cameramen, Rest In Peace, Ben. Miss the guy.
Chinese tuxedo is great I love that place
I've seen MULTIPLE restaurants across multiple states add automatic gratuity and then add another blank line for tips. I check before adding a tip now every single time I eat out. You have to
If you use a debit card they cannot charge a credit fee
Uhhhhh….hot dog?
Worst one is cab..my wife just got charged a 58$ tip on a 70$ trip…….
$5 for that dog is a scam imo
Moral of the story: Reddit and most tourists are full of BS!
… Is your videographer TheDPham? Sorry, I swear there is a huge resemblance!
Hi
always ask how much before you open the wallet if you do not like do not buy
I’d never eat from those Hala carts….they are sketchy
That Mamdani effect, everyone lawful now
He doesnt look like a tourist, hes the typical asian born new yorker
it used to be $2 for a hot dog and $1 for soda when i worked in the city…….5 bucks isn't so bad, considering….
Vegas is by far the worst with fees etc
Buddy, you're not going to the places that the posters said scammed them. You're just going to random restaurants, not getting scammed that time, and saying debunked. This is a pointless video.
You gotta name the restaurant bro or you’re not helping anybody.
Not good.
Haven’t u already made this video before?
We need more of these videos dont feel shy to expose these restaurants
the double tip is a joke actually the tip is a joke , i dont get tipped when i work so i dont tip anyone 🤣🤣🤣🤣
In a few Spanish restaurants in Jackson heights, they include 15% gratuity on the bill. It’s displayed the same as your bill where they suggest it again. I caught it and asked them to clarify and they were nice about it. However, they didn’t clearly state that and I can definitely seeing people double tipping. I warned my friend about it and he still double tipped😂.
6:50, what an iconic spot, I can hear the flute from once upon a time in America
pay with a card, they don't give a receipt and then you check your balance, they over charge you. that's how the scam works
Do it at night and see if it changes definitely try it
thanks for another fab video Jon ill be sure to be careful when we return in March for our annual trip x
