Sticky Toffee Date Cake is a classic dessert that will surely impress your guests and leave them wanting more. In this recipe video, Ina Garten is joined by her friend Laura Donnelly, a pastry chef known for her delicious sticky toffee date cake. It’s no wonder this cake is one of Ina’s favorite desserts in town!
To make this mouthwatering cake, you’ll need dates, baking soda, butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, flour, salt, and baking powder. The recipe is easy to follow and yields two 9-inch cakes or about 20 muffins.
Start by boiling the dates with water and baking soda until soft. Cream together the butter and sugar, then add the eggs and vanilla extract. Mix in the flour and salt, followed by the warm date mixture. Don’t forget to add the baking powder to help the cake rise.
Bake the batter in two cake pans or muffin tins until cooked through. While the cakes are baking, prepare the decadent sauce by combining butter, brown sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract in a saucepan. Once the cakes are done, poke holes in them and pour the sauce over. Let the cakes soak up the sauce for extra flavor.
Serve the sticky toffee date cake warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for a truly indulgent dessert experience. Your guests will be raving about this delectable treat, and you’ll be sure to impress with this recipe in your baking repertoire. Enjoy creating this delicious dessert in your own kitchen and delight in the sweet and sticky goodness of this irresistible cake.

My path is clear. 😊
Hmm… I don't remember Ina rising her hands after cracking eggs before on her show (unless it wasn't shown).
I don't like dates. But the looks mouth watering! 🤤
“Rinse your hands after raw eggs.”
Ina: “Oh. Good one!”

Why dose Laura Donnelly NOT have her long hair tied back ? That is a MUST in any kitchen. All that hair hanging over the food. For Chef it's DISCUSTING.
🤮
Omg… I thought that was Teri Garr.
I'd love to try this just to see how it compares to mine. Hands down the best I've ever tasted is always what i hear when people taste it 😊 and its better than restaurants is what I've been told too. also have a red velvet cake recipe that have converted people that say they hate red velvet. Did a wedding cake as a favour for someone who was let down the day before the wedding, made red velvet and was told it was unbelievable which is nice to hear when you bake
I wouldn’t cook this because yikes, ingredients are waaaaay too unhealthy.
Please put the long hair up or pull it back. Shame on you ina for permitting this I in your kitchen!!!
Love the recipe ism going to make it soon
