iOS 26 Unveiled: Apple’s Game-Changing Features at WWDC 2025
Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference was once again the stage for groundbreaking innovations, as the tech giant unveiled iOS 26—a significant leap in mobile operating systems. Among the multitude of new features, the centerpiece is a striking redesign that introduces a fascinating "liquid glass" aesthetic to the iPhone interface. This refreshing visual overhaul promises to enhance user interaction and elevate the overall experience of Apple’s flagship devices.
Joanna Stern, WSJ’s senior personal tech columnist, provides a detailed analysis of the most exciting updates. At the heart of the new design is a focus on user-friendliness and contemporary visuals, with sleek lines and dynamic textures that make navigating through apps not just functional but visually engaging.
Beyond the cosmetic changes, iOS 26 boasts important advancements in communication tools. The introduction of smarter calling systems marks a significant update for users. New features like call screening, hold assist, and live translation aim to streamline calls, making them more efficient and accessible. This will be a game-changer for anyone who conducts business over the phone or simply wants a more seamless communication experience.
Moreover, Apple is keen on simplifying its messaging platform, with updates that enhance user interaction while ensuring privacy and efficiency. Stern outlines how these tweaks can make conversations more intuitive, adapting to users’ needs in real-time.
Artificial intelligence plays a crucial role in this update, as iOS 26 leverages AI capabilities to not just enhance user experience, but to personalize it. Tools powered by AI promise to provide smarter suggestions, quicker access to information, and an overall more responsive interaction with devices.
Finally, Stern touches on various smaller updates that enhance the iPhone experience. From improved battery management to refined app functionalities, each modification contributes to making iOS 26 a more robust operating system.
As Apple continues to push the boundaries of technology, iOS 26 stands as a testament to the company’s commitment to innovation, seamlessly blending design with functionality. The future of the iPhone looks brighter than ever, ushering in a new era of user engagement and smart technology.

Not the redesign I was hoping for, I wanted a happier middle ground between “vintage” iOS and current. More texture and 3D pop
In other words a bunch of eye candy to distract users from Apple's AI development being way behind the competition. Steve Jobs is rolling in his grave.
Just a theme. MBL only charged $59. Why are we paying thousand for a theme + old hardware?
Apple is dead.

So they basically launched a theme and took 2 hours to explain it?
Apple is completely out of ideas. This is an absolute nightmare.

Apple is moving in directions to be the next NOKIA 😅

Who cares about AI. I just want a phone that respects my privacy. Is that too much to ask for?
Looks Lifeless ;(
Windows vista
I’m running iOS 26 on the iPhone 16 Pro and my god does it look bad. It has a very old feel akin to iOS 7. App icons are larger and more bubblier, and text is more spread out. I’m sure this might just be the adjustment period from the previous iOS, but 26 really does not look appealing.
My favorite feature from iOS 26 is the design of the camera app. I especially like the redesign of the app icon and have it is going back to the original look from the first iOS.
Everytime an ios update comes out I learn what iphones don't have that I already do
