11:05 after listening to this how can you listen these Hollywood "celebrities" singers or bands, it is very hard to conventionalize music at this Mega inspirational size and then go listen to rap about woes and pimps and how drugs are good "i have money and you dont bla bla", is incredibly stunning that in the 21st century 2025 our present music came to this, im a music Portuguese producer with 42 YO and i have seen this degradation more and more, at least in the 70’s we had Pink Floyd or Genesis or in the 80’s we had Depeche Mode or the police in the 90´s we had nirvana but i believe here things begun to change with the introduction of the internet and computers, yes they are great, but they can be a creative killer, in the 2000’s we had Radiohead, some Coldplay or foo fighters but is already going downhill like never before i even shouldn't have mentioned Coldplay or Foo Fighters, and now in 2025 we have nothing i could mention..there is something but i can't consider it to put on any list, is just plastic and copies of copies, now there is nothing new that will blow your mind. You need to go back always if you want to listen something big that will transport you somewhere
Jon and Vangelis was the LP that made me cry like a baby after breaking with my first teenage girlfriend, where a kiss was the most magic thing ever
My Dear Vangelis hope you found God before your rest.
..e Ennio Morricone dove lo mettiamo? non scherziamo
His worflow in the studio is insane, I mean he had midi audio equipment built that didn't even exist… (29:15)
AR.RAHMAN is the Best Music Composer of the 20th Century.
Genius, but he’s not as prolific as John Williams,
Вангелис невероятно прекрасен! Вместе с ним чту Энио Морриконе – они оба могли творить новые миры в своих произведениях. Ну и их достойным последователем точно является Ханс Циммер. Но он уже больше принадлежит 21-му веку.
First, Vangelis operated almost exclusively within a narrow range of electronic pop and film music. Sure, he did it well, but calling him the best composer of the century while he tinkered with synthesizers and atmospheric backdrops is like calling a streetlight the sun. Some decades earlier, composers like Stravinsky were redefining rhythm and harmony, Schoenberg was dismantling the tonal system, and Shostakovich was writing symphonies that carried entire political and emotional weight. Vangelis wrote scores for movies. The scale doesn’t compare.
Second, the century didn’t begin in 1950. Vangelis’s work comes almost entirely from the latter half of the 20th century and beyond. Are we just ignoring the massive contributions of everyone who came before him? Debussy and Ravel shaped modern music before Vangelis even picked up a synthesizer. Gershwin was blending classical and jazz when Vangelis wasn’t yet in the game. Duke Ellington redefined what jazz could be. They’re all just forgotten because someone liked Blade Runner?
Third, the sheer ignorance in declaring him “best” reduces an entire century of music—jazz, blues, rock, classical, experimental, folk, hip-hop, and everything in between—to one man noodling in a studio. Influential? Sure. Dominating an entire century of composers, across every style and genre? Laughable.
So, to call Vangelis the best composer of the 20th century isn’t just wrong; it’s lazy. It’s a failure to engage with the depth, diversity, and genius that actually defined the music of the last hundred years.
Provavelmente, Vangelis é meu músico favorito.
Russian egyptian Composer khaled hammad is the best of all time

him, ennio morricone, basil poledeuris are the trinity of the greatest of the 20th century, followed by lesser gods like herrman, goldsmith, williams, etc
