Israel launches ‘extensive’ strikes in Lebanon, advising UK nationals to evacuate

Israel has launched a series of “extensive” strikes in southern Lebanon and the Beqaa area, resulting in the deaths of fifteen people and injuring dozens of others, according to the Lebanese health ministry. The Israeli military stated that the strikes were in response to a ballistic missile fired by Hezbollah towards Tel Aviv on Wednesday morning.

The escalating violence has led UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to advise British nationals in Lebanon to evacuate immediately as the conflict intensifies. The UK’s Ministry of Defence is mobilizing 700 troops to Cyprus in preparation for the possible evacuation of British citizens from Lebanon.

Multiple other countries, including Australia, Canada, France, Japan, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and the United States, have also urged their nationals to leave Lebanon due to the escalating violence. The situation remains fluid and tense as military actions continue to unfold in the region.
