On the bright side, you have no variable rate mortgages, ex wives, plaintiff friendly alimony terms, kids tuition bills, car notes, huge deductibles from over charged procedures, or defense costs from frivolous law suits, which are similar to getting robbed! 🙂 Interesting how the state side vids are all sort of depressing financial stories…..I get it though… that is the energy here.
If anyone sees a weird post about cannabis seeds I apologize. Error on my part. I’m commenting on videos on my phone and didn’t notice that the grow channel video ended and a Gabriel Traveler started. Hit post and missed the subject of this video by a mile. 😂
I watch Gabe too so that explains why his video came up next.
Being robbed is not a joke. Being robbed is not funny. Being robbed should bring awareness to yourself for symbolism of leaving your "life" exposed to others that watch prey and take advantage. When I was young I made a stupid almost fatal mistake of which a man almost molested me. Thus robbery, assault, a sin, a stain!!!! Is a stain!!!!! Not a type of stain. You mess up…that's your butt. These days we have to be more productive and aware of our surroundings. Someone is always watching and sometimes " been" watching and just waiting for that moment.
Gabe, dude, I've been lucky so far compared to your thievery misfortunes. I'm 59, lived in PDX in the mid 80s – late 90s, been lots of other places, done lots of hippie things much like you, and one of the things that pissed me off the most was getting a pair of new Birkenstocks stolen off the porch of a hotel in Bahia de Los Angeles, BCN, Mexico on my second trip to Baja in 1986. Had they stolen my Tevas too (which I've worn since 1985 to this day), I would have headed back north, immediately. As stated, I've been lucky so far! Safe travels.
To me, theft or damage to my belongings is a violation to my inner peace. It really affects my mood. I get a bit peed off by loosing something as well.
GT please, hire a security when going to those places. You can afford it sir. Life is more precious than a million dollars.
Someone tried multiple times last week to log in to my online credit union account, where I have my nest egg socked away. I changed my password, even though they were unsuccessful. I can't remember that even happening before. You don't know what to expect anymore, I was stopped at a red light near a bus stop last week and the guy at the stop asked for a ride and tried to open my passenger door. I drove away.
I just got pickpocketed a week ago on the train. Horrible feeling.
Holy moly! I think I will make a quick trip out west and that’s it. This stuff doesn’t happen out in West Virginia.
man, that looks bleak there in OR
Gabriel you should let your viewers know what kind of car you're looking for. You have a lot of fans, maybe someone has exactly what you want and can give you a good deal.
Registration fees in Oregon are almost nothing. Good call Gabe
Establish a spending pattern.., like write down credit card payments on a calendar
my incindents
1. cell phone pic pocket in crowded bus
2. forgot the wallet in private places
3. slipers swapped in a crowd slipers holding place
I was robbed at knife point and a fake gun, of course i thought it was real, and that was the most terrifying. Like 15 police cars showed up a little too late. They never caught him. The detectives knew of him and said he was using fake gun.
It is important to do research on used cars. A lot of cars after 100,000 miles are sitting in junk yards in excellent condition because the engine is junk!!!
There are just a few used cars like Toyotas and Hondas that are the best cars to buy, depending on the year of manufacture.
Important to do your homework as it will save you thousands and thousands!
"it all started when i was 5 or 6…." oh man 😅
What’s strange is that they were often stealing items with little resale value
Thank you Gabriel 😊❤ Happy New Year 🎉
Can anyone TLDR this video for me?
This guy now puts out about 90 minutes total of content a week, and people just don't have time for it anymore
It shouldn't take 40 f'ing minutes to tell these stories
Have you seen Vagrant Holiday? He would travel to different countries and would just stealth camp anywhere he could find
Anyone know what happened to Gabe's Honda he was driving? I missed a lot his travels in Asia and right before, when he was driving the Honda!
Gabriel,
Please..this is some very important info when buying a used car! Trust me on this as i was not aware of this info.
You need to get yourself one of those 'car scanners' that will tell everything about the condition of the car.
You can buy a cheap one, called "Fix it" for around $20. You may have seen the ads on YouTube.
Of course, they have more sophisticated ones that go up a few hundred dollars.
I wish i knew about this devise. It would have saved me thousands of $$$$.😢😢
I bought a used Honda two years ago from a dealership. I assumed that buying from a dealership, it was safe, as they claimed they did a 21 point check. Long story short, they lied!!! I foolishly took their word. After i got it, 3 days later it shut down while driving it on the interstate!. A friend came by that knew a mechanic and had it towed. He plugged the scanning device just below the driverside dashboard. In a few minutes, it listed all the issues with the vehicle. It listed a ton of problems with the car. I called the dealership, and they said i bought it "as is". Needless to say, i have spent over $5k in repairs since, i don't want to even keep up with it, as it is very depressing. I thought i was buying a Honda, so i am good, as Hondas are supposed to last a long time.
Trust me on this, buy the scanning device!!!
It is very easy to operate. In just 2 it will show you everything wrong with the vehicle. If they are minor, you can negotiate with the seller for the repairs!
😢
I asked other dealerships if it is okay with using the devise and they said it was okay.
Anyone that does not want you to use it, is because they have major problems with the vehicle and is looking for a sucker that has not heard of the device (like myself!). I don't want anyone to get taken, like myself.
(The dealership i bought it from changed its name which they do every few years. It is located in a very good area of town, so i never assumed a shady business would operate in that area. Unfortunately, i needed a car immediately and didn't have anyone to take me around, as my previous car was totaled with someone who probably didn't have insurance as he took off).
Good luck!
We were Passau. Our cruise company recommended an an Irish themed restaurant because they had great hamburgers. We walked past some umbrellas over tables in front. A man with a cigarette identified himself as the manager. Irish accent. Not the best introduction. Mistake number 1. He escorted us to a table after asking the occupants to leave. Mistake number 2. We are, the food was good. We asked to split the cost and offered our credit cards. She disappeared with our credit cards and returned with a WiFi POS. Mistake number 3. Hours later my credit card company asked me if I had purchased international airfare $2500-3,500. Don’t remember exactly. I declined and my credit card was cancelled. Lessons learned. Don’t let your card out of your sight. Pretty sure she photocopied my card and sold the information on the dark web. Thankfully my credit card company caught it and canceled the card. Thankfully we at the end of our trip. Lessons. Take two international credit cards. Never let you card out of your site. Notify you your card company of your travel plans. Trust your gut. We should have left after the manger introduced himself. Unprofessional.
I remember when you got robbed in Colombia
Beaver! Appreciate your stories man. Real glad to see your success after the years and you're still rockin'.
Interesting stories Gabriel. I was also robbed once. But what i lost was my house and my homeland. In January 1995 russian soldiers burnt down my family house with everything in it, luckily no one was in the house. What hurts me most is that i lost all my family alboms with my childhoid photos in it. That is irreplaceable. And since 1998, i've been living overseas and never been able to restore the house. So lost my homeland too. Im from Chechnya, in case you were wondering.
The feeling is definitely the loss of peace as @stankormy5717 mentioned, to say the least. The only thing that has ever been stolen from me was a plant from my front porch and then I felt as though I was violated. So, I can imagine. Sending positive feelings and wishes for a Brighter, Better more Beneficial for you and all your followers new year. 💖💖🙏🙏
Thanks
Very interesting that most of these happened to you in America. Whenever I tell Americans places I have lived or visited (outside of US) their first question is always "is it safe?" The only place they haven't asked that is Norway lol.
You should get a citi card. they replaced my internationally. Fedex the world on time (this isnt a shill) and it took 2 days.
Paris: We did Interrail around the same time, couldn't afford anything else, either, and stayed on a campsite in our tent… 😉 Anyway, best of luck for your future travels 🤞👍.
@everyone, best wishes for 2026
Gabriel, Well, Last Insident of self Travel, Rebember you, This is a experience of self Travel, S
Damn Gabriel you've been robbed a lot 🥲
My first time was having a bong stolen at a music festival. I once lost my passport and wallet at another festival (very dumb I know). It got handed in luckily but my ket had been stolen 😅. Also once thought I was buying a bag of weed, it turned out to be mixed herbs. I'm not a drug addict honestly, this was all long ago, but is it any wonder drug people can't be trusted? 🤣
I was robbed in a more traditional sense in Morocco. Long story but they only got 20 euros. Also I strongly suspect a Brazilian guy stole my sunglasses when we shared a hostel in Morocco. Can't prove it though.
I think that's it you know! ✌️
Sorry to hear that you got robbed in India
The channel has deteriorated into a man walking and rambling?
I was robbed twice in my travels, both times by the local police ! LOL but not for much money, just the local " propina" , lol.
You gotta blend in more, having a giant backpack with another pack on the front just makes you a huge target and also just a big battle carrying all that stuff everywhere, pack lighter. 30l pack is all you need
Traveler, will you be traveling to BKK for the wedding of Paddy Murphy in March? 😳
Once a year or so I report my main tap card stolen, get a new number.
Has any Robbery happened with you during hitchhikings?
One time when I stayed at hostel in Valencia, Spain, my toiletries, underwear and socks went missing. I suspect it was my roommate(s) who departed that day. Well I hope it went to good use 🙂
Paddy Doyle mentioned you in his latest video!
The Shoe 👞Thief… oh man oh man that is Crazy..
Because you stand with Israel and they are committing genocide against the Palestinians who are innocent and being enslaved and killed in their own homeland that's currently occupied by their oppressors. God punishes people multiple ways. Fight against injustice and things might change for the better.
