Residents of Jasper, Alberta are facing an uncertain future as officials have declared the town “not safe” for them to return home following the devastating wildfire that tore through the community. During an in-person briefing, Jasper municipality incident commander Christine Nadon warned residents that the townsite is still not secure, with the risk of hazardous chemicals released by the structural fires posing a serious threat to health.
The scale of destruction caused by the wildfire is staggering, with deputy incident commander for Parks Canada, Landon Shepherd, revealing that this is the largest fire recorded in Jasper National Park in the last century. The recovery process is expected to be long and arduous, with officials estimating that they will be battling the wildfire for at least the next three months. The lingering fire season in Jasper means that the threat of wildfires extends well into the fall, highlighting the challenges faced by the community in the coming months.
The municipality of Jasper has released a map and address list of damaged and destroyed residences and businesses, offering residents some insight into the extent of the devastation caused by the wildfire. According to Parks Canada officials, approximately 30 percent of structures within the townsite in Jasper National Park have been destroyed, leaving many residents without homes or businesses to return to.
As residents grapple with the aftermath of the wildfire, the community must come together to support one another and rebuild in the face of adversity. The road to recovery will be long and challenging, but with resilience and determination, Jasper will rise from the ashes and emerge stronger than ever before.

Once the lightning struck, they were doomed. There's nothing anybody could do against 300 foot high flames. They needed to remove all those dead trees and dense stands before the fire started.
Is Blackrock and Brookfield going to have their noses in this through investors in Jasper ?! It makes me question this after TRUDEAU's purchase of a $9M dollar condo with taxpayer's money, in New York on Billionaires's Ave? Strange how he's in Tofino, BC and then, all of a sudden, Bonnie Henry drops her COVID mandates, because the NDPs are behind in the polls and the provincial Conservatives said publicly, "Bonnie Henry will be fired!" We are on to you TRUDEAU!
Is there blue colored objects that didn't byrn… ?? Just wondering…
This happened in Jasper Alberta don't know if Lethbridge saw any smoke from this
😢🙏🫶
Is it true that homeowners don't own the land the homes are built on? If that's true will they be able to rebuild?
Oh great, the Mayor can't make it, you won't let residents defend what is left of their homes, AND you are publicly announcing which homes and businesses are damaged, WITH A MAP! OMG! What more can you do to help looters and scammers?
This information, under NO circumstances, should be public.
It should not be about what is easiest or convenient for leadership. It's about what's best for the residents.
This is not appropriate. Those poor residents are suffering from a disaster and inadequate leadership.
I feel so bad for the home owners and residents that lost it all my me and my family was at the backside of miline lodge we left 2 hrs before it burnt to the ground thank God!

Instead of thanking each other,

We, as Canadians, talk way too much and get nothing done till it's too late.
These are the consequences.
I told them long time ago. CAT THE 🌳 close to city. CLEAH UP DRY TREES..MAKE SAND LINE AROUND.
This has been very heartbreaking,as the destruction to homes and businesses is beyond tragic, while I don’t know if anyone was hurt? I am wondering about the wildlife that live in the area? As they would have been caught up in it and it’s just very sad💔😔
Jasper holds many great memories, I am so very sorry to you all…
Hammer bailing on The Queens Gambit series boggles the mind

This is so traumatic!…I hope the iconic & historical Information Centre building is not damage. 🙏🙏🙏
God bless Jasper Families ❤
Your best prevention was never any good. You need to change all in charge. The Mayor, provincal leader, fire chief and anyone who were unfit in making decisions.
Nothing but speeches over the last several days, patting each other's back while the fire is still out of control. Get to work!
I'll never forget the time when I was 12 years old (55 years ago) my mom forced me to to this baptist church camp in Jasper. We were at Pryramid lake sitting around a campfire. The minister was giving a boring speech to 30 of us. I decided to sneak away and walk to the end of this Island. It was dark out and I couldn't hear any voices, so I started yelling F—K Y-O. The eco off the mountain was incredible to say the least. A short time later I felt a hand around my neck ad the next day I was sent home. My 1st trip to Jasper
