Ohio Senator JD Vance has emerged as a surprising choice for former President Donald Trump’s running mate in the 2024 election. Best known for his bestselling book “Hillbilly Elegy,” Vance was initially a Never Trumper in 2016, but has since undergone a transformation and become a prominent figure in the Republican Party.
In a recent video by the Wall Street Journal, reporter Molly Ball delves into Vance’s background and the reasons behind Trump’s decision to nominate him for vice president. The video highlights Vance’s journey from being a skeptic of Trump to becoming one of his staunch supporters, illustrating his rapid ascent in the GOP.
As a Vice Presidential candidate, Vance brings with him a unique perspective and a focus on issues affecting working-class Americans. With his background as a successful author and his appeal to voters in key swing states, Vance is seen as a valuable asset to the Trump ticket.
The nomination of Vance as VP has significant implications for voters and the future of the Republican Party. It signals a shift towards a more populist and nationalist platform, aligning with the principles of the MAGA movement that Trump has championed.
Overall, JD Vance’s nomination as Trump’s running mate has sparked conversations about the direction of the GOP and the impact of his candidacy on the upcoming election. As the political landscape continues to evolve, Vance’s presence on the ticket adds a new dimension to the race for the White House.

I think Trump picked Vance for the simple reason that the words Trump-Vance will look nice on posters. The same number of letters as Trump-Pence. Almost the same letters, too. That's about how deep this thinking goes.
I want to like JD Vance but he is a real braggart about himself. It is not appealing.
Because he's the new Mike Pence, the guy who originally was supposed to get the Midwestern voters for Trump. Remember, Pence was from Indiana, a Midwestern state, and Vance is from Ohio, another Midwestern state. Honestly, I thought Trump would have picked Josh Hawley from Missouri, just because of how Hawley was on Jan 6.
The man from PALANTIR
He's a cat's paw of CIA/WEF
I hope he's not in the club and does better than the dud he had.
I don't like this guy after learning that worships the devil or Wahuguru with his wife. Wake up people
I am a die hard Trump supporter but I'm really disappointed in his VP pick. You can't trust someone like Vance. He once hated Trump and now he a friend/supporter. Come on Trump have you not learned your lesson with these types of people? Apoarantely not.
seems J.D. Vance was chosen as a likely fall guy, with built in criticisms for future exploitation and accusation when DT needs too…aka Pence
Let's hope JD Vance is loyal and not another Mike Pence.
Because he will blindly agree to trumps authority
Trump, Vance. It simply amazes me how 2 men can have 4 faces!
I like presidents who are NOT convicted felons.
why would it start with him saying he hated him at first
😮😮😮😢why, why, why! No, No, No! 😢
😮 we dont look up to him thats for sure!
Vance is an absolute head fake. The main message of Hillbilly Elegy is the old Neocon Right lie that poverty is the fault of the poor. He is fake on every level – grew up in a lower working class modest suburb, no great deprivation – a clever fellow who became the right wing venture capitalist, with a fake back-story. Now presents the biggest lie – as a Trumper on the side of worker rights against big capitalism.
Is JD Vance Trump's secret son?
Politics no permanent friend nor Enemy
And Vance is really positive and cheering he make us all positive🥲🤠👍🍻🎉🎸💯
Thank God for trump for setting the republican party on the right path
Nothing is ‘by chance’ or ‘organic’. It’s all been planned. It’s all related! Like the players!

Vance speaks during the RNC. I'm going to miss that. Don't like a lot of lies
Illegal immigration in to the U.S. needs to be curtailed. However, the Republican and Project 2025 plans of mass deportation is an xenophobic over-reaction to the problem and would be economically devastating to the U.S. economy.
Economics 101 teaches immigration is needed to replenish the labor force and keeps labor cost low. Already the U.S. agriculture industry in California & Florida are facing a low labor force which will continue to increase prices for U.S. consumers. Generation Z with their video games and online shopping is not going to work in some chicken processing factory in Iowa. Only immigrant labor will fill this void.
Reasonable changes to the U.S. immigration policy can be made without causing catastrophic economic harm to the U.S. economy
FOX: “Mr Trump, how did you choose your V.P.?”
Trump: “Well, if you check my old quotes, you know I like to, “Move on..,” friend’s wives, “…like a b___.”
“So, I just chose the guy with the best looking spouse. Anyone who knows me, coulda’ figured that out!”
The Democrats deserve to lose for trying to deny Bidens obvious cognitive decline. It makes no sense to me from a strategic standpoint but I think they literally don’t have anyone else willing to go up against Trump and his populist movement and Biden volunteered. Simple as that.
Shaping the republican part in "his image." In Trump's image. Thanks for the gaslighting.
Molly Ball definitely has armpit hair
