In a heated Prime Minister’s Questions session, Sir Keir Starmer was grilled by Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch on his government’s plans for deregulation. Starmer, comparing his approach to that of Margaret Thatcher, promised to cut through layers of red tape to stimulate growth in the UK economy.
The Labour leader criticized what he described as “overreach” by government watchdogs, vowing to put an end to what he called “vexatious legal challenges” and endless consultations with various regulators. Starmer emphasized the need for a supply-side revolution to eliminate barriers to business expansion and drive economic growth.
The Prime Minister, in response, accused Labour of adopting a stance of deregulation similar to that of the anti-growth coalition, insisting that tackling bureaucratic obstacles is crucial for Britain to prosper. With references to Liz Truss’s advocacy for deregulation, Starmer’s pledge to streamline regulations and free up businesses from burdensome rules echoes the Conservative Party’s efforts to promote economic growth.
As tensions ran high in the House of Commons, Starmer’s commitment to cutting red tape and empowering businesses will undoubtedly be a central point of debate in the coming weeks. The clash between Labour and the Conservatives over deregulation and economic policy promises to be a major battleground in the political arena.

Our country does not exit as the UK anymore, because we have no boarders. Illegal immigrants can just walk into our country unchecked. We have no country, these illegal immigrants cost our country a fortune. I would like to give Starmer a chance but don't feel confident with Labour at the moment. One should give them a chance and prey all goes well
