Kyiv’s involvement non-negotiable for Ukraine in peace deal

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy of Ukraine has made it clear that his country will not accept any peace deal that is made without their involvement. Speaking on Thursday, Zelenskiy emphasized that Ukraine will not agree to any bilateral agreements on its fate that are reached by Moscow and Washington behind closed doors.

This statement comes in response to recent diplomatic efforts by U.S. President Donald Trump, who spoke to Russian leader Vladimir Putin as part of ongoing attempts to end the war in Ukraine. However, Zelenskiy’s stance on the matter is firm – Ukraine must be a key player in any negotiations regarding its future.

The concern in Europe is that the United States may be willing to strike a deal with Russia without considering the interests of Ukraine. Zelenskiy has been advocating for a meeting with President Trump before any discussions with Putin take place, in order to ensure that Ukraine’s voice is heard in the negotiations.

As tensions mount and diplomatic efforts continue, it remains to be seen how the situation will unfold. Ukraine’s refusal to accept a peace deal without their involvement underscores the importance of including all parties in discussions that will ultimately shape the future of the region.
