Lebanon Struck by Airstrikes, Thousands Fleeing South: FRANCE 24 English

Airstrikes hit Lebanon as thousands flee south

Israeli airstrikes continued to pound Lebanon on Monday as the Israeli military issued warnings to residents in the south and east of the country to evacuate their homes in anticipation of a widening air campaign against Hezbollah. The situation on the ground was described as chaotic, with roads jammed with cars as people fled the areas being targeted.

France 24’s journalist, James Andre, was in the port city of Sidon when an airstrike hit nearby, sending a vast plume of smoke into the air. The scene was one of fear and confusion as civilians scrambled to safety amidst the ongoing attacks.

The escalating violence in Lebanon has raised concerns about the potential for a further deterioration of the situation in the region. The airstrikes have heightened tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, a militant group based in Lebanon.

As the conflict continues to unfold, the international community is closely monitoring the situation and calling for an immediate de-escalation of hostilities to prevent further civilian casualties and displacement.
