French President Emmanuel Macron has found himself in a tricky position as he tries to navigate the formation of a new government following the recent parliamentary elections. With the far-right National Rally party threatening to topple any left-wing prime minister candidate he may choose, Macron has made it clear that he rejects the idea of a left-wing premier.
Over the weekend, Macron met with various party leaders in the hopes of finding a candidate who would not immediately face a no-confidence vote in parliament. The New Popular Front alliance, which won the most seats in the snap elections, is a left-wing coalition that would be at risk of being ousted if Macron were to appoint a premier from their ranks.
The tensions between Macron and the National Rally party, led by Jordan Bardella and Marine Le Pen, highlight the challenges the French president faces in forming a stable government. With the threat of a no-confidence vote looming, Macron must carefully navigate the political landscape to ensure that his choice for prime minister is able to garner enough support in parliament to effectively govern.
As Macron continues to weigh his options, the future of French politics remains uncertain. The outcome of this power struggle between the president and his opponents will undoubtedly shape the direction of the country in the coming months.

Let the people choose
"The Far Right" has more than 10million votes in 1st and 2nd round. They deserve to have a member in a new government.
A centrist (or someone who calls themselves that) will always prefer the far right to the far left. Which should give us pause the next time any politician tells us in a comforting tone that they're a 'centrist to the core' or some such nonsense.
The future of French politics will be interesting to say the least.
It will end up maybe a far right pm😂 how hypocrite of macron
Ah yes, a classic. Liberals would rather appease the fash than work with the left, no surprise here. Gotta protect that capital.
