Malaysia Airlines Unveils New Airbus A330neo Cabin

Malaysia Airlines has unveiled a new cabin for its upcoming Airbus A330neos. Scheduled to enter service later in November this year, the A330-900 will feature new Business Class and Economy Class seats.

The new Business Class cabin will feature the carrier’s first Business Class seats with individual privacy doors, while the Economy seats will feature enhanced in-flight entertainment (IFE) for the passengers. These new seats will also be retrofitted on the carrier’s Airbus A350s starting in 2026.

The Malaysian flag carrier will debut its A330-900 jet on the Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne route in November later this year. These A330neos will feature 297 seats, comprising 28 Business Class suites and 269 Economy Class seats.

Malaysia Airlines has chosen Collins Aerospace Elevation seats for its Business Class, which are also found in British Airways’ Clubworld and Etihad Airways’ A350 Business Studio suite.

The Airbus A330neos will feature 28 Business Class suites in a 1-2-1 configuration with individual privacy doors. Alongside the privacy doors, the suites will also offer a large entertainment screen and wireless charging stations.

Malaysia Airlines Airbus A330neo Economy Class

  • A larger in-flight entertainment screen
  • 2-4-2 cabin configuration

Alongside the Collins Aerospace Elevation suite, the new A330neos will feature 269 Recaro CL3810 Economy Class seats in a 2-4-2 configuration. 24 of these seats will come with extra legroom than standard Economy seats.

The Airbus A330neo will also offer WiFi connectivity which is currently offered by the carrier for free to all passengers on select aircraft.

Moreover, the Economy Class seats will also offer amenities such as coat hooks, cup holders, and ample stowage. The seat covers throughout the cabin will feature the airline’s signature songket motif, paying homage to Malaysia’s cultural heritage by seamlessly blending tradition with contemporary style.

Malaysia Airlines plans to retrofit six of its existing A350-900s with the new cabin starting in 2026.

Malaysia Airlines has an order for 20 Airbus A330-900neos intended to replace its current Airbus A330s. The Oneworld carrier anticipates receiving its first A330neo in Q3 2024, with plans to add three additional aircraft by the end of this year. These A330neos will be deployed on routes across Asia, the Pacific, and the Middle East.

Alongside the upcoming A330noes, Malaysia Airlines is expecting the delivery of six Boeing 737 MAX jets within the current year, followed by the arrival of the remaining 16 between 2025 and 2026.
