In a stunning act of violence caught on tape in Africa’s wild Serengeti, a rare clash between two top predators is documented for the first time. Three male cheetahs hot on the heels of a female in heat find themselves under attack by two powerful male lions. As the cheetahs squabble amongst themselves over the female, the lions make a relentless and deadly pursuit. The brutal attack leaves bodies battered and one cheetah dead, while the others barely escape with their lives. Filmmaker Leo Kuenkel, who witnessed the attack, teams up with lion expert Craig Packer to decipher the motives behind the lions’ relentless pursuit of the cheetahs. The investigation uncovers a possible reason for the attack: the instinct of lions to eliminate potential predators of their own young. The rare footage sheds light on the complex relationships between Africa’s top predators and the violent consequences that can arise in the fierce competition for survival in the Serengeti.
