Thousands of people gathered at Imam Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab Mosque in Doha to pay their respects to the former political head of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh. The Jummah (Friday) prayer was performed in his honor, followed by the funeral prayer.
The atmosphere was solemn as people said their final goodbyes to Haniyeh, whose body will be taken to the Lusail royal cemetery north of Doha. Security measures were tight, with state dignitaries from around the world, especially Islamic countries, in attendance. Leaders of Palestinian factions, including Fatah and Islamic Jihad, were also present to pay their respects.
