I Met Students Who Walk 5 Hours to School (Philippines)
In a remote village nestled within the lush landscapes of the Philippines, an inspiring story unfolds each day as students embark on an astonishing five-hour journey to school. In this eye-opening video, I had the incredible opportunity to accompany these determined young learners as they navigate through dense jungles, cross rivers, and scale muddy mountains—all before the school bell rings.
What began as an adventure quickly transformed into a profound lesson about the value of education and the lengths some will go to attain it. Witnessing their dedication firsthand shifted my perspective, emphasizing the importance of access to education for every child, regardless of their circumstances.
I’m thrilled to announce that, thanks to the generosity of many, we raised $13,500 to purchase a school bus for these resilient students, making their daily trek a little easier. This experience inspired me to launch “Binsky Philanthropy,” a nonprofit dedicated to creating a better, cleaner, and safer world. Stay tuned for updates on our future initiatives!

Look, I know it sounds harash but, I walked for almost two hours to school for almost 8 years. It was the bedt time of my life. Speaking with ny friends, every day was an adventure, and we never really thought it was hard. The most difficult part was leaving the home in the winter when the snow was deep. But after few minutes your body adjusts and you are fine.
After my 8th grade I moved away close to school, and couldnt go with my friends anymore.. for the next four years I dont have a single memorable experience of walking to school. Really missed my friends.
I know kids in the US who don’t have shoes!
5 hours round trip or what?
as a flipino this shi is real my cousin can afford a tricycle so we pick him up
Because govt officials doesnt CARE about them..
Thanks for your help
Thanks!
"USA has school bus?" Awww. Leaders of the Philippine government, do better. These kids deserve better.
I thought my parents were joking 😅
This was literally my grandpas walking to school story when my school had a snow day when I was a kid. Maybe he actually did go to school like this come to think of it. 🤔
Amazing gift Drew. A Philippine expat.
How my father told me he went to school as a child:
life on hard mode
One reason they are clever jungle fighter when become an insurgent or NPA member.. thats the fruit of poor governance, politicians promise good life in times of election campaign and forgot after all
I say this with all the love in the world, but please monitor the van so it gets used by everyone and not just a few. I hope the van stays within the community / school and I hope they treat it with love and respect
