Mexico Issues Heatwave Warning for CDMX, Riviera Maya, and Other Areas

Mexico City Conagua has issued a weather warning for CDMX due to the high temperatures expected in the capital this Saturday, March 9, as well as due to the low morning temperatures. Consequently, Mexico City authorities have asked the population to take necessary precautionary measures to prevent any type of respiratory disease, as well as to use sunscreen.

In this regard, according to the National Meteorological Service (SMN), the probability of rain in Mexico City is null during the day and 1% throughout the night. Likewise, cloud coverage will be around 30 percent during the day and only 13 percent during the night. The temperature is forecasted to reach a maximum of 30 degrees and a minimum of 9 degrees in this region. The ultraviolet rays are expected to reach a level of up to 10.

Riviera Maya Temperatures To Reach Up To 40 Degrees Celcius

Colder Weather Expected On Monday

Mexico’s National Meteorological Service (SMN) maintains its prediction of severe heat for the Cancun-Riviera Maya area. Nevertheless, on Monday, the arrival of cold front number 39 is anticipated to impact the Yucatan Peninsula, potentially causing gusty winds, chances of rainfall, and a minor decrease in temperature.

The SMN forecasts a sweltering and humid weekend for the region.

“Cold Front 39 will begin to travel along the slope of the Gulf of Mexico and cause fresh and gusty winds from the north, a drop in temperature and cloudy weather with rain accompanied by electrical activity over its area of influence,” the SMN reported.
