Central Europe is on high alert as the region braces for more flooding following heavy rains that have already claimed several lives. Residents in areas of Poland and the Czech Republic have been forced to evacuate as water levels continue to rise.
In Poland, the death toll has risen to at least five people, with several others missing. The southern region of Silesia has been particularly hard hit, with authorities warning residents to be prepared for more flooding in the coming days.
In the Czech Republic, the situation is also dire, with several regions experiencing severe flooding. The town of Havirov was hit particularly hard, with residents scrambling to evacuate as water levels rose rapidly.
Authorities in both countries are working around the clock to try and mitigate the damage caused by the flooding, with emergency services working tirelessly to rescue those stranded by the rising waters.
The European Union has pledged to help both countries deal with the aftermath of the flooding, with EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen offering her condolences to those affected.
As central Europe continues to face the threat of more flooding, residents are being urged to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
