My Favorite Things On Samsung Galaxy XR At Home
My Favorite Things On Samsung Galaxy XR At Home
The Samsung Galaxy XR headset marks an exciting collaboration between Samsung and Google, blending the best of augmented and virtual reality. Priced at $1,800, it sits strategically between the MetaQuest Pro and Apple’s Vision Pro, offering an innovative AR experience powered by Android XR.
In this video, I share some of my favorite features of the Galaxy XR, starting with its immersive mapping capabilities. Using Google Maps, you can explore 3D environments akin to Google Earth, enhancing your understanding of different locations with experiences like Street View and Gaussian splatting technology. This lets you navigate real-world spaces as if you’re physically present.
Additionally, the headset shines in its YouTube integration, boasting impressive 4K displays that allow for an immersive viewing experience. Unlike competitors, it offers dynamic features, such as adjustable screen sizes and a layout that includes comments and recommended content alongside your video.
Gaming also features prominently, with a selection of titles available and the optional controllers that enhance the experience. A built-in demo game further showcases the headset’s potential.
While there are elements that still need refinement, the Samsung Galaxy XR provides a glimpse into the future of AR with exciting prospects on the horizon, especially with developments like Gemini Live, bridging the virtual and real worlds. Tune in to explore my favorite aspects of this cutting-edge technology!

blah.
Cool
hmmmm gausian splatting on desktop maps??
His favorite things are google maps and youtube. For nearly $2k?
I thought Samsung already admitted this was never meant to be mass produced but more of a test product
Hope to see Samsung giving us smart glasses 😉
Are movies as good as the Vision Pro?
Job simulator? They have that on the Quest 3S for $300!
It's a shame that the prescription lenses for the headset don't support the same range of prescriptions that the Meta Quest and Apple Vision Pro inserts do.
I returned the Apple Vision Pro when I bought it. Only took me a week. I just received the Samsung XR headset and I love it.
The Microsoft HoloLens 2 could do eye tracking with your glasses on and that was like 3 years ago.. what the heck is happening Samsung!?
🎉🎉😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
Hot garbage, pass.
Awesome tech, it’s like a Quest 3 for adults.
It looks promising. Thanks for the recommendation
Let's cut the BS and stop pretending like Google Maps would EVER be a reason why someone would spend $1,800 for a VR headset.
🤣🤣🤣
Wish Apple would make its own version of YouTube .
Nobody cares about google earth, what about replacing your pc for work ? What about watching movies ?
Unless it has a real world purpose, otherwise it’s a glorified YouTube watching while lying down kinda thingy.
So basically for glasses wearers you will need to get 2 pairs of glasses every 2 years for a eye prescription change…and for smart glasses can you imagine the price of needing to change eye prescription of the lenses with built-in wave guides for the AR lenses…No thanks.
Of all the times Samsung should not have copied Apple’s design…
What’s good is that you can use it for examining the airway anatomy and practice without patients
