The city of Beirut is on edge as Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon have triggered a mass exodus of civilians seeking refuge. The relentless bombardment on Monday and Tuesday has resulted in the tragic loss of at least 560 lives, pushing families to flee their homes in search of safety.
Many displaced families have made their way to Beirut and the coastal city of Sidon, where they are seeking shelter in schools that have been converted into makeshift refugee centers. With limited resources and overcrowded conditions, some families have resorted to sleeping in their cars, parks, and even along the beach.
The situation has become so dire that some individuals are attempting to leave the country altogether, leading to a traffic jam at the border with Syria. The chaos and uncertainty have left many Lebanese citizens in a state of fear and desperation as they try to navigate this rapidly escalating crisis.
FRANCE 24’s correspondent, Rawad Taha, is on the ground in Lebanon, providing firsthand accounts of the devastation and displacement caused by the Israeli strikes. As the situation continues to unfold, the international community watches with a sense of unease and concern for the safety and well-being of the civilians caught in the crossfire.
The toll of the violence in Lebanon is mounting, leaving a trail of destruction and displacement in its wake. As the world waits for a resolution to this conflict, the people of Beirut remain on edge, uncertain of what the future holds for their war-torn homeland.
