In a stunning display of nature’s raw power and intelligence, a recent video captured a group of killer whales orchestrating a strategic and cunning kidnapping of a baby humpback whale. The footage, shot in breathtaking 4K UHD by BBC Earth, showcases the killer whales using manipulative tactics to separate the young humpback from its mother.
Described as “born to survive” and “built to thrive,” the killer whales demonstrate their prowess as top predators in the ocean. The video, part of the ‘Mammals’ series narrated by the legendary Sir David Attenborough, sheds light on the remarkable ingenuity behind the success of mammals in various environments around the world.
Despite the awe-inspiring display of nature’s power, the video also highlights the challenges facing mammals in a rapidly changing world. As habitats and ecosystems continue to be threatened by human activity, mammals must adapt and overcome these obstacles to ensure their survival.

So do the orca ate the humpback calf ?
Orcas never cease to amaze me
Let’s go on an adventure Lunch…I mean Kid
What ecotype?
Just heartbreaking to see, but Orcas can't go buy dinner from a ship, this is nature, I could imagine the fear the baby whale felt knowing it was in big trouble, and the poor mumma
The orcas went on to raise the humpback baby as their own and they can still be seen swimming together. ❤️
It’s a cruel world out there.
Plot twist: the baby was kidnapped and the killer whales rescued it and brought it back to its real mother
But then a thunderbird swooped down and snatched the baby right out of the water
But its the thought that counts, right?
Orcas: ”Get in the van, kiddo! We have candy!”
WHAT HAPPENED AFTER!!!???
Such Kidnapers…
That's serious predatory behaviour!
African wild dogs of the ocean how they are so clever and successful hunters
Wish there was more to watch like the mother going after them or the father cool video
Did they steal the baby to eat him or her later? 😢
Waiting for the father figure to leave is just like those cowardess creeps in humanity.
The Orcas have hid the kidnapped baby Whale @ an undisclosed location. They are demanding 500 seals and 500 hundred tons of tuna fish.
No word as of yet from the Orca kidnappers. Octopus Oceanic News reporting. Back to you Penny the Penguin.
🎩 😎
what happens to the calf then? whale trafficking? 🤔
So they adopted him and they all lived happily ever after…right?
Oh my this footage is UN-BE-LIE-VA-BLE!!!!
Orcas are magnificent but I hate them when they do shii like this. The gestation period for Humpback Whale is 11 months. Imagine carrying your baby for 11 months to have these Jerks kidnap and kill it.
Next level..
Tht ws so sad.I m sure the whales must have eaten him😢
That's nature
So what happened to the baby?
The orcas are no match for male sperm whales
It almost looks like all 4 of them planned this. The naughty orcas were like, "let's go cause some trouble, wanna come?" Baby whale: "Yeah! You gotta help me get away from my parents first though!" It worked! Let's goooo!
Do the orcas leave the baby somewhere?
I can't watch this. I got five seconds into it and paused the video. I'm one of those people that closes their eyes and ears when something like this is going to happen. Did the Orca kill the baby humpback? I'm guessing the humpback mama wasn't able to do anything to get her baby back.
If I hadn't watched this video, I would've thought it impossible.
Poor little baby, tricked into willingly going to its death!!
Why do we call "killer" to the black one and "great" to the white shark?🤔
I want to know what happen to the baby
Young and naive…tgat’s why children has to stay away from weirdo rainbows!
🐋: Trust us, we just want to teach this little boy to swim in another world..
Wow. Absolutely amazing footage.
These Orcas are full of surprises.
Looks like Orcas are learning from humans.
Now that's some scary calculated sh*t right there.
How would they go about killing the calf?
Damn nature…You scary
