Paramilitary Group Claims Capture of Singa City in South East Sudan

The paramilitary Rapid Support Forces have declared that they have successfully taken control of the city of Singa in Sudan’s south east, which serves as the capital of Sennar state. However, the Sudanese army maintains that they are still in charge of the city. The ongoing conflict between the two groups has resulted in the displacement of thousands of people from their homes. This escalation in violence in Sudan adds to the already dire humanitarian situation in the country, making it home to the world’s largest displacement crisis. Al Jazeera’s Hiba Morgan provides the latest updates on the situation from the capital, Khartoum.
