A tragic incident unfolded on Highway 97 in the South Cariboo on Friday, resulting in the death of a pedestrian and multiple injuries to passengers aboard a school bus. The school bus, carrying around 30 people, veered off the highway at Butler Road, just north of Lac La Hache and approximately an hour north of 100 Mile House, at 1 p.m. The B.C. Highway Patrol reported that “numerous” people on the bus sustained various injuries, prompting a swift response from air ambulances, BCEHS ground crews, and local fire departments. The extent of the injuries and the circumstances surrounding the collisions are still under investigation.
