A recent poll has revealed that a significant portion of Canadians believe that new immigrants should abandon their traditions and customs upon arriving in the country. This sentiment, shared by one quarter of the population, highlights a concerning lack of acceptance and understanding towards the cultural diversity that immigrants bring to Canada.
The poll results shed light on the underlying biases and prejudices that exist within Canadian society towards newcomers. It is disheartening to see that a significant portion of the population believes that immigrants should conform to a certain set of norms and values, disregarding the rich tapestry of cultures that make up the Canadian identity.
This attitude towards immigrants and their traditions is not only harmful to the individuals who are being asked to give up a part of their cultural heritage, but it also goes against the very core values of multiculturalism that Canada prides itself on. Diversity is what makes Canada unique and vibrant, and it is crucial that we embrace and celebrate the differences that immigrants bring to our country.
It is important to recognize that cultural integration is a two-way street, and that newcomers should not be expected to assimilate completely into Canadian society. Rather, we should strive to create an inclusive environment where all cultures and traditions are respected and valued.
As Canadians, it is our responsibility to challenge and confront these harmful beliefs and attitudes towards immigrants. We must strive to create a more welcoming and inclusive society that celebrates the diversity of our population, rather than seeking to erase it. Only then can we truly embody the values of multiculturalism and create a more harmonious and united country for all.

You wasted your time telling us what we already knew, and I'm sure the # was higher but you probably did your impromptu quiz at Lawrence and Don Mills in the middle of liberal land near Barber Green Rd where your studios are…. Should have done a poll on how many of them "expect" us to give up ours.
I don’t care if they keep their customs. I absolutely care that they insist on me changing to fit their customs. I will not change. They are welcome to come to Canada but they need fit in. I’m sick of our politicians telling me I need to change to not offend the immigrants.
There is a certain desert cult that is completely incompatible with every other society on earth. Yet JT insists on importing them by the thousands and gives them priority.
Only adopt Indigenous traditions then! Everyone else is in an Immigrant!
I have lived in Toronto most of my life, born in Canada to a rather waspy family you could say. I have been fortunate enough to work in a profession that lets me get an inside peek at immigrants culture. I have also been luck to travel. I have grown and learned so much about Family bonds from these experiences. It is shameful that some of us feel that we should adopt the ways of America and all migrants must "Become" Canadian. One thing I always loved about Canada was that we encouraged migrants to keep their culture and we celebrate it. Summer festivals in Toronto would not be the same without it. That is true Canadian Culture…I wish Canada would stop copying the ways of America and realize our strength is our diversity…
They can practice their religion and traditions like anyone else. But, when you are welcomed into our country and you start wanting to raise your flag, stop us from celebrating Christmas and do U-turns everywhere you go in your car because that's what you verbally say is acceptable in your country, it becomes ridiculous and people are not responding well to any of of it. Then screaming racism and that your just being discriminated because of the color of your skin to get get suppress the situation and get what you want is absurd, while being smug in born and raised Canadians faces.
I find it funny that I have yet to meet a new immigrant that has come to Canada and they all claim to have been born here. It's really ignorant to lie to a persons face and to think that we don't know that your doing it. I hardly see the Canadian flag raised anymore and see everyone else's flag raised. Yet, most would not allow any of us to go and raise out flag in their country. wth.
Jack is ignorant. Yes, Canadians feel that immigrants must adopt to Canadian culture and drop theirs. It is okay to share and learn, but we don’t live from where they come from.
What if I try to learn Indigenous culture in stead of European Canadian culture? 🙄
If culture is contrary to laws that born citizens get charged with then charge everyone… Assault abuse crime etc… crimes affect status. So don't commit crimes. Or do whatever u want but be held accountable like Canadians
As an Indian immigrant myself.. I hate to see what has become of Small towns and cities Specially Brampton becoming a menace. People should be allowed to keep their traditions but not at the cost of local values and laws… and I really wonder what law enforcement is at play when people are driving like crazy…
Plazas and strip malls turning in to a complete mess in the evening … these were never a problem before… now the quality of immigrants have gone down. Coz Mr. Trudeau values quantity over quality…
I was born here I can't get a job every convenient store gas station is all packys
What do you expect when the majority of your immigrants come from countries vastly different than Canada
I think this is more dis info. More like the number of canadians that want turdo out is 77%, i think that thats closer to the real number. Also, not to hive up traditions, just to assimilate. Again, global appears to lose the plot.
Slow news day? I guess global would not tell you how FEMA skipped homes in the hurricane with Trump flags
That comment is so racist! More diversity and inclusion please
One reason for this, TRUDEAU!👈
I have no issue with an immigrant keeping their traditions. However, some immigrants seem to feel that once here that Canada owes them every single thing that they want. Immigrants forget that they chose to come here. Instead it feels like now instead of becoming part of our society, many come here and want to change our way of life to suit them. It's not right.
Assimilation or get out of
If we went to there country we would have to accept there's why should it be different here. Of course they should just like we would have to.
New Canadians shouldn't bring the same behaviours here that contributed to why they left their country of origin in the first place. Also, if you want to be Canadian, then BE Canadian and treat everyone the same. Don't sew more division by only dealing with people of your original culture. That goes for everyone. Just treat people the same, with kindness and compassion.

If your govt was strict on terrorism and gangs then this problem wouldnt have existed and immigrants would have assimilated with canadian values. The khalistan issue has cropped up in Canada because of your govt support. Its non existent in India.
I think you’d find it a lot higher than a quarter! Stop towing the woke liberal line global it will work out better for you later!

Immigration without assimilation, leads to conflict.
Or leave!
What did people think when Trudeau said he wanted to make Canada the first post national state?
They can keep their traditions but (a) don't force them on Canadians and (b) they need to assimilate to Canadian traditions you wanted to come here it's not like we invited you imagine someone in your home forcing there believes on you refusing to respect your home or your family they start destroying your home you've worked hard to build WHAT WOULD YOU DO
You poll 1600 people and quarter of Canadians feel that way. Liars
Once again Global So-called News gets it wrong again with their leftist views!
dont know where you get your poll but in the north its 80%
Canada is a multicultural country that welcomes people from all backgrounds. While it’s great for immigrants to keep their own culture and traditions, it’s also important for them to connect with Canadian society and values. This balance helps everyone feel part of the community and makes Canada stronger and more inclusive.
I’m Asian and my parents are trying to push their traditions and superstitions on me. But I am born into western culture.
There is a difference between wearing a hijab and establishing the caliphate
I want to both keep my culture, but also teach others about it. And I'm thankful to live in a country that affords me that opportunity. And that's the glue that binds us together, and helps make immigrants accept the core values of the society they are entering (which, note, doesn't necessarily mean that people should have turkeys on thanksgiving… why not chicken korma, or sarma?)
Government policy are to blame by allowing radicals to abuse the system.
How it different from what british did in the past to convert everyone to Christianity. I will respect other culture and religion but not going to change my culture. So i hope It's better people mind it's own business.
Give it up
You have to understand what western civilization is first.
The west is made of many different cultures who over the centuries of fighting one another have integrated with the end goal of peaceful coexistence with each other . To do so they disposed of their own individual, troublesome traditions and adopted ones from others. In comparison the mass and rapid influxes of non-westerners over only the last 60 years is causing the real problem of parallel societies with no incentive for new comers to adapt. The blame clearly is on the governments policy’s to over look such a fundamental human condition.
The average QI in India is 75 while Canadians are 100 IQ ,so they probably could use a lesson here on how to get along in a culture that will voluntarily adapt to them as proven by history but they also need voluntary do so too
Wow. How could have guessed letting in a bunch of new people in record numbers at the expense of working people has caused working people to not like new comers while we are having increasing foreign focused protests on our streets…. If you expected people to just roll over and not get angry you have not studied enough history 😅
