In the latest episode of The Pioneer Woman, Ree Drummond shared her updated and perfected pancake recipe that is sure to become a family favorite. Ree’s family loves pancakes, so she has spent years tweaking and refining her original recipe to create the ultimate pancake experience.
To start off these perfect pancakes, you will need all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, whole milk, buttermilk, vanilla extract, an egg, salted butter, and pancake syrup for serving. These simple ingredients come together to create a fluffy and delicious breakfast treat.
Start by mixing the dry ingredients together in a large bowl and then whisking the wet ingredients in a separate bowl. Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, being careful not to overwork the batter. Let the batter rest for 45 minutes to 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld together.
When you’re ready to cook the pancakes, heat a griddle or skillet over medium heat and smear with butter. Drop 1/3-cup portions of batter onto the griddle and cook until bubbles form on the surface. Flip the pancakes and cook until golden brown.
Ree recommends serving these perfect pancakes with an “obscene amount of butter” and warm syrup for a truly indulgent breakfast experience. Whether you like your pancakes thick and fluffy or thinner and more delicate, this recipe is versatile enough to suit your preferences.
So, grab your apron and get ready to whip up a batch of Ree Drummond’s Perfect Pancakes for your family. With this recipe in hand, you’ll be able to enjoy a delicious and satisfying breakfast that everyone will love. Bon appétit!

Try adding a tablespoon or two of lemon juice at the time of your last step. That will help to add some extra lift due to the acid in the lemon juice combining with the baking soda to create extra bubbles and rise in the pancakes. You will not taste the lemon juice but you will see the effects. 😀
i could make pancakes from a $2 box mix, drench them in syrup like you did, and NOBODY could tell the difference.
A must try!! Yumm!! 😅
I omit the sugar and replace at least half of the white flour with whole grain flours, oat flour, wheat germ and wheat bran. Sometimes I mix in a spoonful of buckwheat flour. I watch a couple of vegan chefs on tv who've steered me away from simple carbs and to increasing my consumption of the complex ones.
Why backing soda and powder
I love the theory behind the ingredients and instructions for making pancakes… but pancakes still suck. Homemade sausage, egg, & cheese on an English muffin is where it is at.
Those look so delicious 😋 yum
A nice and easy recipe
Definitely making this recipe 🎉
I love watching you on food Neet work
My grammar would say, is your head cold?? Sir
You guys are so cute with your jokes on each other!!
Nevertheless, yes, I've noticed that in pancake batter, vanilla is of utmost importance. Absolutely delicious thank you again Ree !!
Sorry, Bryan Lagerstrom wins the GOAT pancakes rating

@foodnetwork I’m Protesting this family’s history- please look into it and get her off the airways unless they make things right. It’s not ok.
