Return of Parliament Urged by Poilievre to Address Trump Tariffs, Liberals Urged to Strengthen Border Policies

Canadian Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre is speaking out against the Liberal government’s border policies in response to the 25 per cent tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump. During a news conference in Vancouver, Poilievre called for parliament to reconvene and address the issue at hand.

“It should not take a foreign leader to get our government to reverse its deadly policies that are killing our people. It is not for President Trump or any other foreign leader that I want to stop fentanyl in my country,” Poilievre expressed passionately.

Poilievre criticized the Liberals for only inspecting one per cent of shipping containers, claiming that this negligence allows drugs and guns to enter the country undetected. He also accused the government of allowing multiple ISIS terrorists to enter Canada, including one individual who was charged with planning a terrorist attack on Canadian soil.

As the tariffs are set to take effect, Poilievre continues to push for tougher border policies and greater diligence in safeguarding Canadians from the threat of illegal substances and terrorism. The call for parliament to reconvene and take action on these pressing issues highlights the urgency of the situation at hand.
