Snow cleanup in progress in Toronto after city hit by blizzard; parking ban in effect

The city of Toronto was left buried under more than 20 centimetres of snow after a powerful winter storm hit the area, causing widespread school closures and a parking ban. This storm marked the heaviest snowfall of the season, surpassing the previous snowfall just a few days earlier. The Toronto District School Board and the Toronto Catholic District School Board were among the many boards across the Greater Toronto Area that had to close their doors to staff and students due to the severe weather conditions.

City officials wasted no time in tackling the aftermath of the storm, with plowing and salting operations in full swing throughout the night. By 8 a.m., all major roads had been plowed at least twice, with the first round of plowing for local roads and sidewalks also completed. The cleanup efforts were a priority in order to ensure the safety and accessibility of the city’s roadways for residents and commuters.

The significant amount of snowfall caused disruptions and challenges for many in the city, but Toronto’s transportation services director emphasized the importance of being proactive in clearing the snow to prevent further issues. Despite the daunting task at hand, city crews worked tirelessly to remove snow and ice from the streets, ensuring that normalcy could be restored as soon as possible.

As the cleanup efforts continued, residents were urged to adhere to the parking ban in order to facilitate the efficient removal of snow from the streets. The city remained focused on managing the aftermath of the storm and minimizing its impact on the daily lives of Torontonians.
