The hunchback really milked his scenes !
I refused to believe the ending til the very last line of dialogue!😢 Really good all around!
Squeaky Shoes & his wife were so funny. I don't speak French but you don't need to, you instantly understand what they are saying. lol
So Dark the Night is a 1946 American crime film featuring Steven Geray, Micheline Cheirel and Eugene Borden.
Quite the movie. But really, do cops walk away from injured individuals at a crime scene, without so much just checking if the person is OK (end scene)?
I see a lot of complaints about ads. Personally, I saw very few. I’m pretty sure the channel doesn’t have control over that.
Thank you for this video – I'm a fan of Noir, and this one's a gem. I loved the Inn keeper's squeaky shoes…it completed the suspense (it's silly, but that was the best part of the movie to me). This movie is definitely worth watching if you enjoy Noir. Beware reading comments first – I've seen that folks are revealing the ending – Spoiler Alerts! My best.
Steven Geray was a fine character actor in many films. Hollywood or whomever gave him a leading roll in this movie is to be congratulated. It gave him a chance to be a leading man but unfortunately, his height, lack of matinee idle looks and his English accent didn't work. Very few actors became leading stars looking like this. Edward G. Robinson and James Cagney come to mind. Both with repulsive bodies along with looks only a mother could love managed to overcome this.
Any movie with Alan Codee is a must-see.
Nice print👍👍
This is when you had intelligent audiences. Not what you have now…..
Ads. about every 5 mins. throughout the video to the very end.
Thank-you STREAM CITY❕️🎬
Awesome cinematography! It's really neat how something as simple as camera placement can make someone pay more attention to a scene.1:48for example.
No. they had the dx wrong. That's not what it's called. No wonder the 'mistake' has lasted even to this day!!
Too much music and too much saccharine
Freaky.
Excellent movie, love the suspense. Thank you!
What a strange movie. I enjoyed it, though.
Great music from Hugo Friedhofer.
Totally absorbing film! Thank you.
Well, it's different.
I'm afraid, describing the guilty party as 'five foot, nine inches' wouldn't mean anything to a french person then.
Didn't know there would be an "Egor" in this movie.
Nice! Thank you.
21:46 Cigarette ??? Yes, yes it is.
From Terence Wise in UK…….Blimey! Talk about a noir film……
The terrible phoney Outrageous Accents that the terrible actors can't even sustain is at first laughable, but then quickly becomes infuriating.. Just go away before I tuant you a second time-uh
No sign of that French Inspector ??? Nor even that Belgian Detective ???
That was good and thanks for posting, Mr Geray kept reminding me of an overweight Dan Dureya
