Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland and the Isle of Man are currently facing the onslaught of Storm Éowyn, with rare red weather warnings issued as winds of up to 100mph are expected to wreak havoc in the region. This storm is being described as potentially the strongest to hit the UK in generations.
The Irish meteorological service has already recorded a record-breaking wind speed of 114mph at Mace Head on the west coast, surpassing the previous record of 113mph. Additionally, the mean wind speed record of 81mph set in 1945 at Foynes, Co Limerick has also been broken during the storm.
With over four million people at risk from the impact of Storm Éowyn, authorities have activated the government’s emergency alert system to warn residents in the affected areas to stay indoors and take necessary precautions. The severity of the storm has already disrupted data supply from weather stations, highlighting the intensity of the weather conditions.
As the storm continues to batter the region, residents are advised to stay updated on the latest developments and follow safety guidelines provided by local authorities. Stay safe and take necessary precautions to ensure minimal impact from Storm Éowyn.
