An airstrike in central Beirut early Monday morning left an apartment building levelled and three Palestinian militants dead. This strike, which occurred outside of the main areas where Hezbollah typically operates and near a busy transportation hub, would have typically been viewed as an escalation, prompting a retaliatory strike from Hezbollah into Israel. However, the dynamics of the long-standing conflict and Hezbollah’s ability to respond are now uncertain.
The United States and its allies have urged for a cease-fire in order to prevent further escalation that could potentially bring Iran into the conflict and spark a broader regional war. The situation is delicate, as the rules of engagement appear to be shifting and the balance of power is in flux.
FRANCE 24’s International Affairs Editor Philip Turle provides insight into the current situation and the complexities at play. The recent strike has left observers questioning Hezbollah’s next move and whether they have the capacity to respond effectively.
As tensions remain high, the international community is closely monitoring the situation in the region. The uncertainty surrounding Hezbollah’s ability to retaliate has added a new layer of complexity to an already volatile situation. It is crucial for all parties involved to exercise restraint and work towards de-escalation to prevent further bloodshed and instability.

Experts and their crystal balls made it crystal clear that Israel have indeed balls.. Happy Christmas everyone..🎉🎄
It should have been obvious to anyone and everyone that Israel is successful when it goes on the offense, which it should have done a long time ago. Of course, the world never lets them actually win a war, claiming humanitarian concerns and the like. Considering they never say a peep about Sudan, for instance, which has a much longer and deeper crisis, with 10 million people displaced, their hypocrisy and double standards can be safely ignored. Fortunately Israel is showing the resolve, strength and determination in doing so.
The French are in mourning.
