Tariffs on Canada to be Implemented Saturday by Trump, Excluding Possibly Oil

In a press conference, U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that tariffs on Canadian imports will come into effect Saturday. He mentioned that a decision on whether the tariffs will apply to Canadian oil imports will be made by the end of the day Thursday. Trump stated, “we may or may not, we’re going to make that determination probably tonight on oil.” When asked if energy imports from Canada would be exempt, he firmly stated, “oil is going to have nothing to do with it as far as I’m concerned.” Trump also hinted that the tariffs may increase over time. The uncertainty surrounding the tariffs and their potential impact on Canadian imports continues to loom as the deadline approaches.
