The Cocaine wars – Germany's fight against drug gangs | DW Documentary
Via bombings, kidnappings, blackmail and even torture, competing criminal gangs are making themselves known. And while doing so, innocent lives are also being taken – leaving the authorities deeply alarmed.
They fear that conditions are starting to mirror those in the neighboring Netherlands, where a high-profile investigative journalist was murdered by hired guns, and judges and prosecutors have received death threats. Nor do the gangs responsible shy from intimidating politicians and the royal family. Struggling to find attorneys willing to defend key witnesses, European authorities have had to recruit lawyers from abroad. In an organized crime business worth billions of euros, anyone who stands in the way runs the risk of being targeted by the cartels. This global war rages on in Europe and is increasingly stretching the German state to its limits. The makers of this film accompanied the country’s interior minister and senior law enforcement officials on their visit to South America to expand international cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking. They also talked to criminal lawyers, toxicologists and police investigators in this ever escalating conflict. Are the cocaine wars winnable, or is it already too late?

Drugs are everywhere in the clubs. What rubbish research.
Cancel the license first.
legalised it. most germans are already on drugs. Why make is germans pay lots only to go to the cartels? Legalised it, pay normal amount and the profits goes to the goverment….Its, safer, better for the people, and profitable for the nation. Heck, most germans are on drugs because life is dull in germany..they need it to be productive.
Rampant drug abuse and collapsing demographics in Germany 😢

You're telling me the president of El Salvador can handle gangs and drugs better than Europeans. GG's.
All Indians with Chancenkarte should be happy to live in Nziland now!
Just make it legal already. War on drugs never worked
Let me guess, another problem that has nothing to do with imigration 😴😴😴
seem drug gang problem only happens in democracy,
The huge drug war is the leaders of every country making sure the drugs are kept flowing. Politicians don't want the drugs to stop!😢
This is controlled by Mossad, the huge proceeds go to funding the Israeli military machine.
Waging war on drugs does not work. How many times do we have to make this mistake? No matter how much you try to stop drugs from entering the country or punish those who distribute them, it will always be impossible to stop drugs because as long as there is any trade or travel in and out of the country, it will always be possible to smuggle drugs in.
The only effective way to stop drug violence is through economic measures. Legalization takes away the profit potential of drugs. If drugs are not highly profitable then criminals will not smuggle them and commit violence to defend their markets. While illegal, the huge profit margins on drugs means that even if the majority of their smuggled drugs are caught, the drug trade will STILL be profitable. To drug lords, drug seizures are simply a cost of doing business. And even if enough drugs are seized that it does begin to significantly cut into profits, the drug lords will simply increase the cost of their drugs, and since their buyers are addicted they will pay whatever the drugs cost. All that does is shift the financial cost of the war on drugs onto the people most harmed by it, the addicts.
In addition to being the ONLY way to effectively stop illegal drug trade and drug violence, legalization allows the government to regulate drugs which is proven to significantly reduce harm. The government can do things like set limits on drug purity and ensure they are not laced with other drugs, which are both proven to reduce the addictiveness and harm of drugs. Legalizing drugs also allows the huge sums of money currently spent on drug enforcement to be rerouted to addiction services, which is also proven to decrease drug use. Most people addicted to drugs do not want to be addicted, and if stigma free, accessible, and affordable treatment was available they would take it.
Good luck with the fight, but you lost it already. It is easier to buy drugs in Germany than fresh bread (from a bakery)… Multikulti results…
