Ozempic and similar medications have gained significant attention in recent years, as the demand for weight-loss solutions continues to grow. However, despite their popularity, these medications remain a topic of controversy, with online conversations often filled with misinformation. In the video “You’re Being Lied To About Ozempic | Truth Complex | Business Insider”, Producer Elizabeth McCauley explores the truth behind these medications by delving into scientific literature and speaking with experts in the field.
One of the key misconceptions addressed in the video is the belief that these medications are untested. McCauley sheds light on the scientific research that has been conducted on Ozempic and similar drugs, challenging the notion that they are not backed by evidence. She also examines the idea of “curing” obesity, pointing out the complexities involved in weight management and the limitations of relying solely on medication for treatment.
The influence of Big Pharma on the marketing and promotion of these medications is also a topic of discussion. McCauley explores the role of pharmaceutical companies in shaping the narrative around weight-loss drugs, raising questions about their motivations and intentions. Additionally, the video highlights the potential side effects of these medications, emphasizing the importance of understanding the risks associated with their use.
As the video progresses, McCauley addresses the issue of copycat drugs and the notion of taking “the easy way out” when it comes to weight loss. Just eat less than you need and you will loose weight. If you want to eat and are out of calories for that day, stuff your self with cucumbers
Does she think people in clinical trials are locked in cages in a lab somewhere and not "real life"?? lol. She started this report saying, I watched all the social media reports to study this…. Omg, Pass.
I´m not on this, i lost 60lbs with diet and exercise alone. I went from obese to quite athletic in 2 years. But damn i want to try it so bad. My life is a constant battle against cravings. A drug that makes the little voice in my head shut up about eating chips and sweets? Yes please. If only it wasn´t so expensive.

You still need to make lifestyle changes to lose weight, irregardless of GLP-1. Using it as a tool to suppress appetite, and eating a healthy balanced diet while making lifestyle changes to move more you can gain a lot of benefit. Unfortunately no pill will make you lose weight, be healthy and allow you to be sedentary and eat the same diet that's led to weight gain.
Isn't it like a perfect cigarette in a way? You probably have to take it for life to maintain the health benefits and going off of it requires significant lifestyle changes.
The goal should never be weight loss. The goal should be achieving and maintaining healthy body fat percentage!
And this goal is best acheived by managing calories consumed vs calories expended.
At the end of the day you still need to limit calories
I have no problem with all these trend followers taking Ozempic. I just cannot stand their whining when it doesn't do what they expect it to and especially when they suffer the side-effects. Darwin came up with his theory for a reason.
Intermittent fasting and a change in diet is way better for your health.. If it helps people lose wieght then so be it but know they're better alternatives that dont cost money. Obesity is a major problem so im happy some people have a way out. Just disgusted with famra companies in general because profit is the main goal
I mean… it’s possible that people put on 2/3 of the weight they lost when they stop taking Ozempic because they never changed their eating habits.
I wonder if pairing a drug like this with other mental health treatments would result in better long term results.
I also feel like many people who struggle with their weight are unaware of the volume or caloric density of the foods they consume AND aren’t always necessarily capable of accurately describing and communicating their actual behaviors and adherence to a diet to their doctor.
Watch an episode of My 600 pound life on TLC. Those folks literally have video footage of them consuming 10,000 calories a day, only to turn around and tell the doctor they eat like a bird.
Healthy people don't take drugs/medications. There is no such thing as a drug that can make a healthy person more than 100% healthy!
And yet many hold the false belief that consuming substances (drugs, supplements, vitamins) can make them healthy while still eating unhealthy food!

That Graph you show means zero when there is zero explained.
ie is it showing a daily, monthly or decade of company growth ?
Did the Nords make Covid vaccine amidst this timeline ?
Very dodgy info here .. 👎🇦🇺
I’ve been shocked by the rise of Glp-1 drugs and the craze that has swept the nation. But it came out of nowhere and everyone was so skeptical of the new Covid vaccine but people will take the Glp-1 drugs with no hesitation.
Easy and simple are not the same. Eat less, move more is simple not easy.
My issue is that the us gov fronts a lot of money to pay for this
This really sounds like promotional video by / for big farma company
very one sided sponsored by Novo to shame competitors who compound drug. Shame on you girl, maybe eat clean and move more so you won't need Ozempic. SHAME ON YOU BUSINESS INSIDER
"This un-biased video is brought to you by Novo Nordisk"
I don't believe the "most effective ever" claim. Fentanyl addicts look skinnier than Ozempic users to me.
I wonder why so many headlines still target Ozempic. It has been more than a year since we have a more effective drug Mounjaro, but people still prefer to target NovoNordisk and not Ely Lilly.
Ozempic at this point is a just a backup plan in case if Mounjaro has shortages.
1:06 Of course there are stay at home mom scientists that did their own "research" spreading all kinds of misinfo. Everyone is an "expert" these days.
Sorry Stacy, i'll be listening to the guy that went to med school for 8 years.
Lost 88 pounds with GLP-1 Medication and living my best Life ❤
Wegovy does not change the laws of thermodynamics. The person that was abiding by a calorie deficit w/o wegovy and didn't lose weight was not in a calorie deficit. Just to be clear. That being said, some people have such insane food noise that calorie deficits feel impossible to maintain, and they might be.
How to cure obesity:
Eat less calories than you burn; that is literally the only way to lose weight and it works 100% of the time.
Euphemistically referring to people as non-responders when they just won't stop eating fast food.
I used my savings to be on ozempic for 3 months. I lost 15 lbs but the food noise being quiet changed my life. For once I was like ‘damn, this is how normal people live without being controlled by food?!’ but I couldn’t afford it. $400 a month out of pocket. I wish so strongly it was more affordable.
I'm on saxenda, i have obesity and pre-diabetic (and also hypothyroidism, endo, celiac and who knows what at this point). Guess who lost a weight of maybe a good poop in 3 months 😂😂😂 Always love being an exception.
I have Lupus and experience something called wasting disease, it causes dramatic changes in weight and the sicker I get the more compliments I get… it’s almost ridiculous at this point. “Girl you look great!” I’m like thanks it’s an illness 😂😂
Ozempic is for losers who have no willpower. Legit, stop being weak you fools and stop eating. Jobs applications should have a "I have used ozempic" checkbox because that's a great way to filter out lazy undisciplined people from positions. If a fat person tells you their diet isnt working ITS BECAUSE THEY ARENT FOLLOWING IT. It isnt rocket science. Eat less, burn fat. Eat more store fat wtf is wrong with people. Fight the urge to eat. Start running so you learn to do things you dont want to do vs living in complete comfort & excess
Thanks for cutting through the BS with facts
Not all weight issues is purely related to a physcial issue its both social and structural which then needs a REAL change to food and life. Having a crutch is again just a crutch, you need to do the work! I´ve never been unhealthy but its like getting more fit. Its a lot of work just trying to improve your current health for a normal person. Nothing comes for free O_O
Yes
Ozempic for weight loss is like steroids for bodybuilding. You will pay the price in the end.
I have been on various glp-1 drugs (changes mostly due to insurance) for 15 years to treat pre-diabetes. They all worked fabulously, maintaining my A1c around 5.1. I initially lost 40 pounds but gradually regained it over the years despite rigorously using Weight Watchers in conjunction. Of course, WW changes its program every year, so it was very difficult to maintain a consistent dietary routine that worked for me. Still, the glucose control remained rock steady. Until in February 2024, when the fad grew so quickly that demand outstripped supply for all versions of these drugs, and I could no longer fill my prescription. I went without for seven months, trying to control my blood glucose with strict diet and exercise and failing. My A1c rose to 5.9. Then my doctor found a local compounding pharmacy where I could get semaglutide compounded on-site. It's off-insurance and the cost is high, but it's actually much lower than the co-pay I had under insurance. After two months, my A1c has dropped back to 5.5. I'm not seeing any difference in my weight yet, and might not since I was on the other versions for so long without any long-term effect on weight. Now I see that Novo Nordisk has demanded that compounded semaglutide be prohibited. It will take at least a year to go through the system before approval. Thanks Novo.
your doctor should prescribe a year of crossfit and a nutritionist before you can ever shoot up before going to the Cheesecake Factory
