After falling from a horse during her first riding lesson, Jiwoo nearly gave up — until her riding director showed her how to understand and connect with her horse. Through patience and encouragement, she rebuilt her confidence and eventually passed all her riding tests. Her talk explores how we sometimes need someone to stand beside us to walk through our hardest moments, and how she now hopes to be that person for others. My name is Jiwoo Bae, and I am currently a 5th grade student at BC Collegiate. At school, I especially enjoy Science because I like learning how the world works. I am also a big fan of the Harry Potter series and enjoy reading imaginative stories.
Outside of school, I have a strong passion for horse riding. I have a pet horse named Hawaii, a beautiful black-and-white horse. Through riding and caring for Hawaii, I have experienced many emotions and learned lessons about courage, patience, and perseverance.
As I enter middle school, I hope to continue learning from others, from my horse Hawaii, and to become someone who can give back the same support and encouragement to others.
